Hi I'm Andy

I'm a father of six, a Buckeye fan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up with a brother and two sisters. Our parents were imperfect (as we all are) but loved us. We went to mass (Catholic) every Sunday. But, we didn't talk much of our faith. I never knew what to believe. When it was my choice, I stopped going to church. I spent six years in the US Navy and 5 years in college (Go Zips). During that time, I was always drawn to good songs (check out: Lenny Kravitz - Rosemary, Believe; Jewell - Hands, Life Uncommon). I was introduced to the gospel by my future wife...and was baptized 14 years ago. I know that Jesus is my Savior. I love the Book of Mormon and the Bible. I love our prophet, Thomas S. Monson. Most of all, I love Jesus Christ. I have a wonderful wife and six unique, amazing, children. By the way, I'm a big Buckeye fan. Like to work outside. I enjoy learning about different cultures and music (Mongolian throat singing among the most interesting). I enjoy reading: sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction. And, I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

The Plan of Salvation, as contained in the Holy Scriptures, spoke to my heart as the missionaries taught me. I always believed that God wanted all his children to be blessed, not just the people who were fortunate enough to live in a place where Christ was taught. However, it wasn't until I heard the testimony of a 15 year old boy that I realized that I had faith in what I was learning. I remain a Mormon because I believe in the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My life has been greatly blessed by following our Lord.

How I live my faith

Guess what, I'm not perfect. I try my best to live the two great commandments: "Love the Lord thy God" and "love thy neighbor as thyself". I try to remember that we are all children of God. I forgive easily. I do get annoyed too easily at times, but I'm working on that. I pray in thanks and for guidance every day. I try to teach my children how to live like Christ.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

A lot of people in our day don't believe you have to "dress up" to go to church and worship the Lord. You don't "have to" dress up to come to an LDS service. When I first joined the church, I didn't understand why everyone wore suit and tie or dresses. As I drew closer to the Lord, I wanted to give Him my best. Part of that was to wear my best when I go to worship Him. Show more Show less
