Hi I'm Danae

College Student, Scientist, Thespian, Artist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of 7 children. Born in Utah but raised in New Mexico and Maryland before we moved back to Utah. Currently attending Brigham Young University and trying to figure out just what I'm meant to do with my life. My free time is almost entirely devoured by books, theater and the occasional painting and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this gospel and I've been blessed to have a strong foundation of support from my family. I've stayed a part of this gospel because I've seen it's truthfulness for myself. I have felt the undeniable power of the Savior and his Atonement as well as the all encompassing love of our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in the little daily things we are asked to do. Reading the scriptures each day and saying my prayers. Making sure I'm to church on time and that I'm there prepared to learn. I also have the opportunity to attend religious classes at BYU which allows me to learn and to help others learn more about the Gospel.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Danae
We absolutely believe in the equality of men and women. Mormons believe in the sacredness and importance of family and many take that to mean we want women to stay at home but that's not quite it. The church supports women in all roles from astrophysicist to a stay at home mother. What it is, is that we recognize that women are better suited to caring for others while men are better at protecting others. Equal but different roles. The church has what is Called “The Family: A Proclamation to the World” which was written by 12 modern apostles and a prophet by inspiration and revelation from the lord and it explain where many of the stereotypes for LDS women may have arisen. The truth is that Mormon Women are just like any other women. We are strong, quick minded people looking to make a difference in the world. Show more Show less
