Hi I'm Karen

I am a former English professor and high school English teacher. I am married and have four beautiful children. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in North Carolina as a Southern Baptist. I loved reading and writing but was also really athletic and enjoyed traveling. I moved to Texas and married while working full-time. I had two sons and a daughter while living in Texas. My husband and I traveled to Northern California. I decided to finish college and we went through a divorce. I worked two jobs and went to school full-time. I also started working on my family history for a college class which took me to the Family History Center at the closest Mormon Temple. I became curious about a faith that kept track of ancestors so I requested that the missionaries come to visit me. I was baptized on August 7, 1993. I eventually married a Mormon man in that same Mormon Temple that I first visited. We adopted a little boy who is now grown and is leaving to go on a mission of his own.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because Heavenly Father confirmed to me through the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is an additional testimony of Jesus Christ. As I did my family history research in the Mormon Temple for my college class, I had a feeling that I can only describe as a prompting from God urging me to contact the missionaries for more information. I am glad I did for myself and my family.

How I live my faith

I have been so happy as a Mormon. I wish I could show everyone how our church is focused on the gospel of Jesus Christ. I try to show others how much Heavenly Father loves them by treating them as I would like to be treated. I also enjoy volunteering within my church community and am now working with the public affairs committee.
