Hi I'm McKenzie

I'm a laugher. I'm a college student. I love all things love. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from high school in 2014 and went on a road trip across the US last summer. I love learning about our history in the States and one day I hope to be able to travel around the world learning about different histories and cultures, especially in Europe. I am currently in college and am considering majoring in English. I've loved reading and writing since I was little. I think being able to express thoughts and feelings in a way that can only be done on paper is beautiful. I play piano and I'll listen to almost any type of music. Like a lot of people, I use music as an escape. It has the power to take me to just about any place I want to be. My family is my world. They are my best friends and I would be nowhere without them. My favorite place is Disneyland. Cliché, maybe. But also the epitome of my childhood. I'm always happiest when I'm there. Mostly I'm just me. I have ups and downs like everyone else. I like things and I dislike things. I have good days and bad. But it's my faith that gets me through the bad days and makes the good days good.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family who are all members of the Church. I grew up learning its principles and reading the Book of Mormon. I don't know what it is like to be without the gospel in my life. And I don't want to find out. I am happy. So, so happy. And I know it's because of how I am trying to live my life. The principles members of the Church live by are principles that keep us safe and help us to be better people. By striving to live like the Savior, Jesus Christ, I am kinder and more compassionate towards others. I am not perfect like He is, but by trying to keep His Spirit with me at all times, I feel peace and comfort and safety. And I can more easily live so that others can see Him through me. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. I know that what I believe is true because I have found out for myself, not because of what my parents and church leaders have told me. I am free to choose. And I have chosen the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have chosen to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Right now I am living my faith in the best way I know how: I am serving an LDS mission in New Mexico. I have always wanted to go on a mission because I believe it's a great way to show my Heavenly Father how much I love Him. It's really hard for me to leave my family. But I know that by spending this short year and a half away from them, I will be blessed, they will be blessed, and others around us in Utah and New Mexico will be blessed. How? Our Church is centered around families. We believe that through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, families can be together forever. I am willingly leaving the life I have in Utah to teach more of Heavenly Father's children this principle. I want others to be able to be as happy as I am. I want them to have the opportunity to be with their loved ones for eternity.
