Hi I'm Blake

I grew up in Seattle Washington. I love being with my family and friends.

About Me

I am currently in college in Utah at Brigham Young University. I am studying economics, and I love thinking and talking about ideas with people. As a Washingtonian I enjoy hiking in the mountains. I also love to watch movies, watch sports, play piano, and serve others. I am planning on serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was a cross-country runner in high school. I also love my family and spending time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

At first I was a Mormon because my parents were and I went to church every week with them. As I grew older, I felt like I knew the church was true but did not live like I did. During my younger teenage years I made many mistakes. However, as I repented and made an effort to come closer to God, Jesus Christ changed my life. I truly feel like I was "born again," as many Christians like to say. I truly had no more desire to do anything bad, all I wanted was to love my family, serve the Lord, and make others happy. I do not always act on these desires because I am far from perfect, as we all are. But I have come to know through God's spirit that the Book of Mormon is true, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true, Christ suffered for our sins and lived today, and that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us unconditionally.

How I live my faith

I feel like I live my faith in two major ways. One is by coming closer to Christ and our Heavenly Father by studying the scriptures, praying, fasting, and serving the Lord. I also live my faith in the way I act towards those around. I try to treat the people around me like my brothers and sisters and love as the Lord would love them. I want everything I do to make others feel happy and loved. This is what brings me joy.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Blake
The Atonement is the most important event to ever occur on this Earth. Christ suffered on the cross and in the Garden of Gethsemene, where "his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground" (Luke 22:44). Here he put right all the bad that the Fall had caused, including our sins, our sicknesses, our pains, and our troubles. He suffered the pains of all of our sins and any other difficult thing we could go through. Because of this he knows how to comfort, guide, and help those who are suffering in any way. To say that it was the greatest act of love of all time would be an understatement. I know that Christ suffered for us and I am eternally grateful for the help He has given me. Show more Show less
