Hi I'm Shaunie

I grew up in a town in Wyoming of about 600 people & I love it. It will always be home to me. I attend the University of Wyoming.

About Me

I am currently attending the University of Wyoming. I am studying Sociology and Criminal Justice and I want to build a career in Juvenile Rehabilitation. In high school I played volleyball and cheered all four years and LOVED it. I was also in the musicals and jazz choir. My senior year I had the lead as the narrator in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat." If I could repeat anything form high school, it would be the musicals!! In my free time I love to swing dance, snowboard, and hang out with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

One main reason I am a member of this church is because of the peace and joy it brings me. My life, as anyone's, hasn't been easy, but through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have the atonement. Everyone makes mistakes and the atonement is there to wash them away. If we put our faith in him and trust that he has something better planned for us, we will prevail. Don’t stray from him when things get rough. I know from personal experiences that following him and following guidelines isn’t always the easiest, but the teachings of the LDS church are there to help us avoid pitfalls and hard ache. God puts us in the places and positions that we need to be in to help ourselves and benefit others. He loves us and is helping us be where we need to be. He has always been there and willing to help me through my trials, but first I must go to him. "The atonement can secure peace and happiness. In the Lord’s time, solutions will come, peace will prevail, and happiness will be ours.” I love this quote so much and I know that it is true. God has a higher plan for us than what we can see and we NEED him. I have used the atonement many times in my life, and I don’t know where I would be without it. The specific teachings of the LDS church are there to help us to be the happiest people we can and I know that if we follow these teachings our lives will be so much easier, not free of pain or tribulation, but easier. Mosiah 24:14 reads: “And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while ye are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.” The peace and I get from this gospel is indescribable and I wouldn’t give it up for anything. I know it is true.

How I live my faith

I am preparing to go on a mission to Cuernavaca, Mexico in June of 2015. I am extremely excited!! I have been an active member in my church my whole life and have held many callings. Currently I am helping my ward by being a WARD missionary. This calling has greatly influenced me and helped me to know how to teach and help others.
