Hi I'm Brenda

I grew up in Idaho and now live in Kentucky. I'm a wife and a mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have five beautiful children. I grew up in Idaho and now live in Kentucky. I have also lived in Utah and Indiana. We lived in Wales for five years and during that time we were able to travel through much of Europe. This experience sparked a great love of travel and discovery for me. Our youngest daughter is adopted and was born in China. At heart, I am a mom and I love to spend time helping my children. I also love to garden, crochet and to read.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is God's church here on the earth. I have known that since I was very young. I was taught gospel principles by my parents, but as I lived the teachings of the Mormon Church I found that they helped me to be a much better person than I could be on my own. I know that we have a prophet who receives continuing revelation to guide us through this earthly existence. I also have received great comfort and direction from the Book of Mormon. This wonderful book of scripture has helped me to be a better neighbor, a better wife and a better mother, and to recognize - every time that I read it - that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father, and that he loves me. The answer to life's problems can be found in the words of the ancient prophets who wrote the Book of Mormon. I love this book! Being a disciple of Christ, to me, is much more than a Sunday responsibility. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ, because it teaches us who we need to become, not just what church we need to belong to.

How I live my faith

I do my best to be helpful and compassionate to those around me. Since I am a homemaker, I have been able to spend a lot of time volunteering at my children's school and in the service of others. Currently, I work with the young women (ages 12-18) in our church. I love to be around them and to feel their enthusiasm for life. My role is to help them to discover the Gospel of Jesus Christ for themselves and to help their parents guide them through the challenges of life. I regularly teach them on Sundays and help them to plan and carry out activities on Wednesday. Much of my church experience has been spent teaching others. Our greatest responsibility as disciples of Christ is to help and teach others. I also have a ministry (which we call visiting teaching) to visit and assist other women in our congregation spiritually and temporally. I love to visit with these friends each month.
