Hi I'm Scott Walker

My mother joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when she was pregnant with me. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My mother was baptized when she was pregnant with me, so I was raised in the Church. I grew up in Halfway, Oregon close to the Idaho border and spent my childhood playing sports and fishing. I spent many years at BYU trying to get a degree and find a wife, but ending up finding my wife in Gresham, Oregon in between bouts of school. Within two weeks, December 1997, I graduated and married Heather at the Portland, Oregon Temple. In August of 98 we moved to Gilbert, Arizona and spent the next eight years teaching school, coaching sports, cleaning teeth(Heather) and fixing sewer manholes. Strange but good years for us. After having our first daughter, Avery, I found a job in Hood River, Oregon teaching high school and coaching volleyball and basketball. That was the Summer of 2005, and we've been in Hood River ever since. Now we have a son named Kallin and another daughter named Lincoln. I am the head volleyball coach at the high school and the head girls basketball coach. I teach freshmen, juniors, and seniors how to read and write better; and spend the rest of my time helping my children learn to not hurt each other... much. I do occasionally get to fish as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but I am still a Mormon because Jesus Christ lives. It took me many years to understand this, but now that I do know, I am bound to act upon this knowledge. In James in the New Testament it says "If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him." A Book of Mormon prophet, Moroni, said something similar when he wrote, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost." I asked, with the real intent of acting on the answer, and the Holy Ghost spoke to my heart, telling me that the Gospel is on the earth again and the church is true. That is why I am Mormon; because there is no where else on earth where I can find the full truth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching about morality, values, and choices to the young people I work with. I live my faith by trying to pray about the choices I make, and improve myself each day. I live my faith by trying to be a better son, husband, and father than I was the day before. I live my faith by serving as a counselor in my Bishopric in the Hood River Ward. I live my faith by working on my house, helping others with their projects, and trying to spend my time on others.
