Hi I'm Michael John Nelson

Life all comes down to a few moments... this is one of them. We get it almost every night. Serving a mission in Lithuania.

About Me

I don't know who "me" is but... I love people. Not always. But eventually. The purpose of my life is to travel all around the world doing service and humanitarian work, surrounded by people that I care about and transforming myself into something more than what I was the day before. "If you want to awaken all humanity, then awaken all of yourself... if you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then you must eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself, truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation." "A wise man once said sometimes you need to go where everyone knows your name."

Why I am a Mormon

I have had too many quote-on-quote ""coincidences"" in my life running into people... whether you're thinking about someone and you run into them, or you just happen to be in a position to talk with someone about their sorrows and calm the emotional-storms going on inside them. It's that moment you have where two strangers run into each other on the street, and you don't know why but for some reason you pass each other and smile like you both know each other. Then the moments gone and its too late to do anything about it. But I have found that every action we take in this life whether good or bad can have infinite repercussions down the line sort of like the butterfly effect, but there is a spirit by which we can know what course to take so that we may best serve God and others, transforming ourselves into better people and to be more like God while transforming others solely by my example. Part of becoming like God is making mistakes so we can repent of them and become more like God. If we pray and genuinely make repentance of our sins Jesus Christ can take the sorrows of our souls upon him and absolve us of our guilt, and restore his light unto our countenance. My testimony is simple. Serving other people brings us joy, and it is only through focusing on filling the needs of others that we can truly find ourselves. Jesus Christ was the first example of service. He showed how it is possible to love all other people on an immense scale. God puts people in positions to help each other, or run into each other in so called "coincidences." Finally, the best thing we can do in this life is to try to gain experience from meeting and touching the lives of as many people as we can--ESPECIALLY-- by being friends to people who are not members of our faith.

How I live my faith

Serving others Working and hanging out with the special needs, volunteering in the hospital Being an example of Christ by trying to be all that I can be in the 4 areas of mental, physical, social, and spiritual. Always trying to carve smiles on sad faces.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Michael John Nelson
Absolutely not. Most of my closest friends are NOT members of my faith, and I am still better friends to them then to some of my Mormon friends at times. Just because you have different beliefs about life then someone doesn't mean you have to abstain from hanging out with them. Jesus Christ was the ultimate example of this, going into the midst of the "sinners" to be an example and help absolve them with their sorrows. With Christ, it was not the poor sinners he had the most trouble administering too, but the pious and holier-than-though rich pharisees and priests and rich men. We should love all people rich or poor. Show more Show less
