Hi I'm Cindy

I'm a mother and a writer. I was born and raised in Portugal. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Portugal and I've been in Utah, USA for 19 years. I am a mother to four children and I've been married for 18 years. I have a master's degree in Portuguese/English teaching, and I work part-time as a substitute teacher in the Dual Language Immersion Spanish and French classes at the local elementary schools. I'm a writer. I love books and I love to read. I also do photography, gardening, and knitting in my spare time.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was 18 years old. I was raised as a Catholic in Portugal but I longed for something more when I was as teenager. I met the missionaries in my hometown and started taking the discussions. When I was baptized, the rest of my family did not join the church, but they came to respect my decision. From the examples of the missionaries, I grew a love of missionary work and decided to serve as a missionary. I served a full-time mission in the Salt Lake Temple Square Visitor's Center Mission (in Salt Lake City, Utah) when I was 23, and I look back fondly as one of the best things in my life. Serving others and helping them to know that Heavenly Father loves them helps me grow my personal testimony as well.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday and I also participate in my congregation's choir. Using music and lyrics as an expression of devotion brings me closer to my Heavenly Father. I also assist in the women's organization and classes, and I visit other sisters during the month.
