Hi I'm Ruben

I am from Las Vegas. I am very into science. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a biochemistry major at BYU. I love to play sports, I love science and learning and am planning on going into medical school later on. I love music, playing and listening. I play the guitar and the piano and I love Indie and folk music with good lyrics, and dance parties are a pastime of mine!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth. I know it because I have fasted and prayed about the truth of this church. I know that living the way that God wants us to will make us better people and will help us to be happy. I think the first time I really knew this church was true was when I was around 14. I had thoughts like, "Why am I going to church every Sunday? Do I really believe in all this? Is this church really true?". So I decided to do what the missionaries tell those who are investigating the church to do. That is, read the Book of Mormon and take the challenge of the last prophet, Moroni, to write in it; to pray about what you have read with a sincere heart and faith that God will answer your prayer. So I did just that. I read the Book of Mormon, I fasted to know if it was true or not, and I prayed to know if it was true. In my prayers, I asked our Heavenly Father if what I had been doing my whole life was true. I received an answer, but it wasn't angels coming from heaven or anything like that. I just came to the realization, no doubt with the help of the Holy Ghost, that what I had been doing my whole life was good and helped me and encouraged me to be a better person. As I continued to pray and read the scriptures and fast, I began to understand how the Spirit of the Lord spoke to me. In small, quiet, and subtle ways God told and showed me that he loved me and that he wanted me to know that the church was true. And I testify of the truthfulness of the Gospel today. My testimony isn't a perfect one. I still pray and read the scriptures and fast to continue to build my faith and knowledge of many different gospel topics and growing in the gospel of Jesus Christ is something that I cherish and hold very dear. This gospel has helped me become a better person, and I know it can do the same for anyone who tries. I encourage you all to come unto Christ and learn for yourself of the greatness of this gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping others. I volunteer as a tutor at high schools and am always willing to help someone with a struggle they may be having, whether it be educational like homework or emotional or spiritual. I try to be a good friend to all and I do my best to include everyone. I also teach lessons in my ward to the men about different gospel topics. Most of all though I just try to be a kind person. Being kind to people helps others be happy and helps them when they might be feeling sad and I always want to be a comforter to someone who is sad.
