Hi I'm Melissa Edgar

I am a Behavioral Science Student. I am preparing to serve a mission in Argentina, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student. My Major is Behavioral Science with and emphasis in humanitarian aid. I love to sew, craft, and even sew on commission occasionally. I live in a cozy (thats code for small) apartment, that I love. I work two and a half jobs, i'm counting the commissioned sewing as a half, and the other two are retail. I am preparing to serve a mission in Buenos Aires Argentina, just as soon as I track down enough long skirts.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always an active member, I was baptized, like many, when I was eight but growing up my family never really did the whole "active church member thing." So I knew the gist of the teachings, I definitely knew the standards, but I never had anyone hold me to those standards until I was seventeen. My best friend begged me to come with her to an LDS youth conference (basically co-ed youth camping). I wasn't sure about going but when I got there I fit in really well. Plus there was this boy...yup, a boy. Thats why I started going to this wonderful church regularly. At first I did pretty much go for this boy but then as I got to know more of the ward and they got to know me they essentially adopted me into their families. I realized when I wasn't at church I was thinking about church and I loved going to the activities. I started to understand that my Heavenly Father did know me and He did love me. I could feel it every time I walked into that church building. When I realized my Heavenly Father, who is perfect, would forgive me for all the mistakes I have made, and then encourage me to come live with Him again after this life, thats when I knew this was the true church. I live this gospel because to me this gospel is is love and charity, kindness, purpose and direction. I love that I can pray to my Heavenly Father and that he will answer. I love that He knows me individually and He gives me strength when I am struggling. I love that when I make a mistake I am able to repent of them and be clean again. I love that there is living prophet of god on this earth at this time, and I know that that is Thomas S. Monson. My Heavenly Father loves me, He loves me enough that He sent his son Jesus Christ to atone for me. I know with all of my hear that this is the true church, and I plan on sharing it with anyone who will listen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church every sunday, reading my scriptures, and living the standards. I try to accept all callings, even if I'm unsure of them. So far I have become grateful for every one of them. I am currently serving in the primary! I get to hang out with the six year olds, while the big kids (adults) have to go to sunday school... I think that seems like a good deal (plus there are usually treats!). I may have mentioned but I have accepted the call to serve my Heavenly father, and his children by going on a mission. Besides that I try and strengthen my faith everyday. I try and seek ways that I can serve people, and not just in teaching them my religion, but in their everyday activities as well.
