Hi I'm Kelsie

I live in the Northwestern United States in the mountains. I'm a writer and an artist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy art, music, writing, reading and running. I am currently going to college and I love learning. I play the flute and have performed in several different settings including state and regional festivals, music competitions and church meetings. My art also takes up a lot of my free time. I enjoy painting, sketching and doing graphic art as well. I sell my art both in stores and on-line. I have found that this is a very stress free activity and it helps me to relax and enjoy the beauties of the Earth. I'm a runner and have completed several races, both short and long. In high school I was in track and field and participated in sprinting and jumping events. I've also done many 5 Ks and a half marathon. My days are currently spent waitressing and running a gift shop between semesters. I also have a lot of brothers and sisters and love spending time with them. My sister and I enjoy reading and just talking together. My brothers love hiking, hunting and fishing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this church is pure truth. Since accepting the gospel for myself and coming to the conclusion that following the church standards and commandments will make me a better and happier person, I have been able to see positive changes in myself and those I'm in contact with. This gospel and knowledge is what gives me hope and motivates me through tough times. I love learning more about the scriptures and seeing the light of the gospel inspire others to change. I know that without this church I would be somewhere unrecognizable, both physically and spiritually. I need this gospel in order for me to fulfill my true potential. And I know that my Heavenly Father is the only one who truly sees the extent of that potential. He loves me more than words can describe and His love and the love of His Son, Jesus Christ, is what makes me feel like my life has a purpose. Though I was born into this church my conversion has been very gradual. I knew that doing good and making the best kind of choices was the right thing for me. I knew the difference between good and bad choices and knew that if I ignored that difference I would be disappointing my Father in Heaven, my God. But I think it took me a little longer to realize that making mistakes was inevitable, and Jesus Christ, my Savior, was and will always be there for me, helping me to change and do better and better every day.

How I live my faith

I'm the leader for girls ages 8 to twelve. I organize fun and useful activities for them every week and teach them important skills such as cooking, sewing, and good studying habits. I love watching them learn and prepare for the next phase of their life and it is part of my job to help them get ready for that. I'm also an avid family historian. My mother's side of the family has many missing records and information so I have been doing a lot of digging and am loving finding new facts all the time. I've been able to help a lot of people with their family history and teaching them how to use the modern programs and technologies that have helped me so much. I've been able to help with food drives, senior dinners and service organizations thanks to the activities and societies I joined in high school and now in college.
