Hi I'm John-Michael

I was raised in the icy weather of Minnesota. I enjoy physics, skiing, and acting. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a college student, going through what it seems every college student has to face: the perpetual days of eating ramen, keeping up with rent, and struggling to find time for sleep, school, work, and a social life. Yet, despite it all, I have still found time to have fun occasionally hiking, skiing, or swimming, and to be active in church. I soon will be serving a mission for the LDS or Mormon church. I will be going to Brazil, and am super excited, not only for the chance to experience a whole other culture, but also for the opportunity to tell others about the religion I have come to love.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young boy, I was a member of the Mormon religion simply because my entire family was. I enjoyed spending time with those at church, but I did not really have a knowledge that the church I was attending was true. Yet, that changed over time. I did not have a sudden epiphany or miraculous instant where I suddenly knew that the church was true, but I came to know that being Mormon was right over a long period of time, with constant commitment to the commandments God has given, and confirmation through the Holy Spirit that these things were right and true. It's interesting, the way the Holy Spirit has me feel is unique compared to anything else I have ever felt. When I feel the Holy Spirit testifying to me, I fell a sense of assurance and peace. I would like to say now that through these assurances, I know that this church is the church of God. I know He loves everyone on the earth, for everybody is His spiritual daughter or son. I know this church is the way to come to know God on a personal level, and I hope to spread that message to others on my mission. I say all these things in the sacred name of my Savior, the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Amen

How I live my faith

As a member of the Mormon religion, I strive to live my faith by keeping the promises I have made with God to serve one another and to be kind to those I interact with. I participate in my church by helping organize events for fellow members my age, where we can come to know each other better and develop friendships centered in the gospel. Yet, I fell I can do so much more, especially to honor the God who created me. Thus, I further live my faith by preparing myself to serve a mission. This mission that I am preparing for is one where I will take 2 years of my life to go and to teach others about the Mormon religion. I am preparing for this mission by learning the principles of the church more in depth, learning how to teach, and learning to live less and less with electronics. Soon, hopefully, I'll be living my faith my telling people I meet everyday about Christ l as I teach among the people of Brazil.
