Hi I'm Audrey Stephenson

I grew up in Las Vegas. I'm serving a mission in Cuernavaca. I am a writer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student of English, creative writing. I am 24 and I have decided to serve a mission in Cuernavca, Mexico. This decision was not easy but right. I feel so great! I am the youngest of six children. I love reading, dancing, licking brownie batter, riding my bike, and doting on my nieces and nephews.

Why I am a Mormon

Everything just made sense. It never sat well with me, when I thought of death and wondered if I would ever see my family members again. The thought of some purgatory for a bunch of lost souls who may have never had the opportunity to be baptized into what ever church didn't sound right. I knew God was a "just" God and a "jealous" God but was he so unforgiving? No. This could not be. It did not seem fair. In the LDS gospel we teach of the plan of salvation. This is also known as God's plan of happiness. The first thing we learn is that God is our Father. We are his children. And he would never punish his child for any sin unknowingly committed. The plan is perfect. I encourage you to take the time to learn of it and I promise, it will make sense. More sense than anything any other church that I have known has taught me. I think my testimony really started to grow when I read the Book of Mormon for myself and prayed to my Heavenly Father. Not once. I prayed constantly. Every morning and night because I knew that if I wanted an earnest response I needed to not only ask for the answer but actively search for it. This is where my testimony stems from. Great things do not stem from an okay effort. If you want the truth, don't go looking it in secondary sources. Find it yourself. Learn for yourself. And the answer will come. If your heart is open (I know it sounds cheesy) but I promise it comes. Little by little. Line upon line, precept on precept. Rome wasn't built in a day and perfect knowledge of God doesn't come from speaking to him once a week. Wisdom in all things does not come in simply knowing the facts but in living them everyday. This is what the church has taught me. This is how you come to Know God. Try it. What do you have to lose, besides doubt?

How I live my faith

I started out in this life as a relatively shy person. I never volunteered for anything that might place me at the front of the crowd or in a leadership position; but it would seem that the Lord saw something in me that I did not see in myself and when I was in high school I was assigned to be a president in my youth age group. I was so nervous. Heavenly Father blessed me with gifts and talents that I could not see in myself and when I received this calling I was able to come to know more of my own capabilities as well as the sisters I was honored to serve. The friends that I have made while serving in these callings have stayed with me throughout my lifetime. Since then I have been called to several positions in the church that have taught me leadership, teaching, public speaking, and organization skills that have served me incredibly well in my personal life as well as my professional life. Having church responsibilities has never felt like a burden, even when I doubted my own abilities, Heavenly Father has always seen me through. I love this church. I love my Heavenly Father.
