Hi I'm Rachel

I'm in a band called UFN. I love to write lyrics that inspire & are positive. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a singer/songwriter/pianist/performer. I have a twin brother who is extremely awesome. I made the super difficult decision to not attend college because I wanted to focus solely on music, and I love it! My brother & I were born 3 months premature, so I ended up being blind in my left eye, and now have a prosthesis in it's place. I started theatre & piano when I was 5 years old which began my love of performing & singing! Now I have found an awesome band to play with, which includes 2 other LDS members!

Why I am a Mormon

When I began to read the Mormon’s sacred Scripture, I realized how parallel it was with the Bible I knew, & it gave me great comfort & peace. As promised in Moroni, I prayed for truth & Heavenly Father showed it to me. Because of this undeniable spiritual growth I’d been experiencing, I asked around online as to what a Church service would be like if I weren’t a member & wanted to investigate. I got many answers, but one so happened to be from a relative to one of the bishops in my stake. Without a doubt this was a sign from God that I needed to start going down this path. I soon met with the bishop of my ward, & got another sign from God: it was a family who I had known all throughout elementary school & high school. I started taking the lessons from missionaries & developed a great relationship with them & the bishop’s family. Day after day I kept receiving signs from Heavenly Father that everything I was learning was Truth and it was exactly what He wanted me to know. December 20th, 2014, I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, & it has been the best decision of my entire life. I never knew what sort of pure joy you could experience on this earth, the kind of joy that only comes from knowing & loving your Heavenly Father & following His plan for you. I want to encourage anyone who has questions or is unsure of where their faith currently lies, just give the Book of Mormon a chance. You may think you know what it’s all about, but you truly don’t until you read it & pray for yourself to know that it is true. Everyone who’s lives have been impacted by this book will tell you the same, it is beyond powerful. Everything about this journey for Truth I went on has lead me to the greatest love I could ever experience, and absolutely nothing happened by coincidence. I know with all my heart that I have never believed anything more in my entire life. Our Heavenly Father is faithful, and He always always provides for His children.

How I live my faith

I am currently a Young Women's leader in my church and loving it. I live the way Christ calls us according to His Scriptures, and nothing makes me happier. Reading the Book of Mormon daily & doing devotionals livens my spirit and starts the day off right! I joined the Church when I was 19 years old, but really I feel as if God has been preparing me for this my whole life. I grew up in a good normal Christian household where we all went to church every Sunday & Wednesday, read the Bible diligently, and tried to follow Christ’s example. I was heavily involved being a part of the worship team in many different ministries at my home church. Music is how I feel connections throughout my whole life, so naturally, my Spirit always felt most alive when I was singing praises to Him. I was always taught how “different” Mormons & Christians were, and I went about with the mindset that they were the “weird” ones…that was until I joined my band I’m currently in. The band consisted at first of me, my friend whom I had grown up in church with, and another guy who happened to be LDS. I am a very open-minded person and always want to have a full understanding of everything, so I was excited to finally have a Mormon friend to ask all my questions to. Him & I would talk various times throughout the next year about our different faiths, and I was always curious. Then exactly a year later from when him & I had our first discussion about it, he suggested I read the Book of Mormon if I was willing. I agreed, and even went to a temple open house a couple days later by myself just to see what it was all about. I never expected how my life could change because of it.
