Hi I'm Lynae

I'm a Mormon serving a mission in Rochester, New York.

About Me

I was a college student majoring in Human Development. I am taking some time off to serve a mission for my church in Rochester, New York, so I can share my beliefs with others and help them experience the same joy I have experienced throughout my life. When I return home I plan on continuing my education and graduating college.

Why I am a Mormon

The reasons I am a Mormon can be summarized in one word: JOY. The knowledge and purpose this gospel has added to my life feels my soul with joy. Not the kind of joy that comes from a candy bar. Not the kind of joy that comes from purchasing a new car. Not even the kind of joy that comes from watching a sun set. This joy, this real joy, is joy that can only come from knowing of God's unconditional love and constantly feeling it in your life. As I have learned of all that my Father in Heaven has done for me it is impossible to not feel His love. I know God lives, and that He loves me with a perfect love. I know this love for me is why He sent His Only Begotten Son, even Jesus Christ, to suffer for my sins so I can someday return to His presence. I know God is mindful of me and wants me to succeed here on Earth. I know that life extends beyond the grave and that one day I will be brought to stand before God. This knowledge, this sense of purpose in life, brings me so much joy. So why am I a Mormon? I AM A MORMON BECAUSE I LOVE BEING HAPPY.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an active member of my church. In the past I have served in various church leadership positions. I have also served as an organist for church services and enjoy sacrificing my time and talents to help others feel inspired through the music I play. Perhaps my favorite way to live my faith is by example. This is not to say I am anywhere near perfect, or even claim to be, but I do try. Each Sunday, as I learn of the example of my Savior, I try to think of ways to be a little more like Him. Gordon B. Hinckley, a recent prophet in the church, once said, "Try a little harder to be a little better." I live my faith by constantly and consistently striving to live the principles found in the scriptures and taught by leaders. Living my faith is definitely not easy, but it was never meant to be. Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer, is the only person to ever walk this Earth who was perfect. And while He was perfect, His life was hard. However, I know that as I make the sacrifices to live my faith I will experience real joy. I know this because I have tried it, and you can too! After all, what is there to lose?
