Hi I'm Nate

I've grown up in a military family and have lived all over the United States. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. Growing up in Boy Scouts, I have had the chance to travel everywhere from the Florida Keys, to the California Coast. I love to do anything outside, from ATV's and shooting sports, to hiking and camping. I want to do crazy things, I have already done sky diving, so i still have to base and bungee jump, and I even want to cage dive with Great White Sharks (shh don't tell my mom!). One thing I am in love with is guitar. I love the Beatles to Nirvana, but any music will do. I also love movies, two of my favorites are Casablanca and Forrest Gump, but it doesn't matter what genre or era the movie was made. I also love hanging out with my friends and will find almost any reason to hang out or go on a date- especially if it gets me out of doing work. I still haven't figured out what I want to study in college, and coming from a long line of military service members, I will probably end up joining the Army anyways. Since I am an Army brat, I love traveling and cannot sit in one place too long. I have been to Canada, Western Europe, and China and plan on doing more! I have also been to places like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and Shenandoah. Only being college aged, I can look forward to a whole life of traveling and doing the extreme.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because, well to be honest because i was born into it. Both my parents are converts who have never left and have taught me and my siblings well. It isn't that simple though. Going because your parents tell you to and actually believing what they teach you are two totally different things. I always believed what they taught us as youth, but I never really had to rely on my own testimony. I would always say I was a Mormon, and when my friends asked questions I would always answer them. Many people can say they had an epiphany or another sudden moment when they knew the gospel was true. For me, I can't look back and find a specific moment and say, "that's when I knew it was true." It happened slowly over the course of me growing up in the church. When I graduated high school and started preparing for a mission is when I realized just how powerful the Atonement through Jesus Christ really is. Becoming worthy to be a representative of Christ is only possible through the forgiveness our Savior shows us. I know that no matter how many times we fall and how hard we fall we will always have a hand outstretched towards us to lift us back up again. I know that through Him we can return to live with our Father in Heaven. I am eager to share this joy i feel with others and know that I will be blessed as well as everyone I talk to. I know that being Mormon isn't easy, but if it were easy we would never learn.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping it with me always. I read the Book of Mormon every night before bed, which at first wasn't easy, but now I've made it a habit. I also read Preach my Gospel, a church teaching tool, since i am preparing to serve a full time mission for the church in Puebla, Mexico. That being said, I also study Spanish everyday for at least 30 minutes. I leave soon, but who knows, you might be reading this by the time I have come home! In staying worthy to go on my mission, I attend church every Sunday and when I am feeling generous I wake up at 5:30 to make breakfast at seminary, an early morning Sunday school class for the youth. I know that the Lord is proud of me for trying to live the standards He has set for us. I know this is where i need to be.
