Hi I'm Merissa

I'm a college student. I grew up as a military brat. I love to travel and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi there! My name is Merissa and here is a little-bit about me. First off all, I'm an ocean lover. I prefer more than anything else to be on the ocean or beneath it. I love to scuba-dive, boat, and surfing. I love the outdoors and being able to spend some one-on-one time with nature. I'm a military brat and have been fortunate enough to live in many different places around the world. I love learning about other peoples cultures and beliefs. It's exciting to learn about how people around the world think and through these discoveries I am able to find so many common beliefs between these diverse cultures. I am currently serving a mission in Nagoya, Japan. Before that, I was attending school to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. I was involved in many extra-curricular activities but my favorite hands-down is Lacrosse. Lets see, I am a dog-lover, food-lover, and life-lover. I really just strive to live my life with no regrets and full of light and happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I want to have a life full of happiness and joy. I know that this church has the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the exact same gospel that Christ organized on the Earth. Having the knowledge that the gospel brings into my life has brought me happiness and peace. I know that I'm a child of God and that He is a loving God. I know He loves me and all of His children. I know that I can personally talk to my Heavenly Father and tell Him about my struggles, how my day went, what I need and ask Him questions that I know will receive answers. This personal communication with God has helped me make important decisions that have brought my life great happiness. I know that God sent His son, Jesus Christ, to atone for our sins and die for us that we, like Him, may return to our Heavenly Father clean and pure. We can use this great miracle of the Atonement to cleanse our lives, bring peace into our souls and perfect ourselves. He has prepared a way for us to live with Him again and this gospel has the correct road map in order to make it there. If we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and endure to the end I know that we will be eternally happy which is something I strive for in this life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to seize the moments where I can serve others. I love to volunteer at a local soup kitchen and try to be there every week. I participate in my schools service council which allows me to be able to help plan and organize many service events for the school. In my student ward I was called to be a Compassionate Service Member. We worked to be able to recognize the needs of the members of the ward and then made arrangements to help meet those needs.
