Hi I'm Syd

I was baptized in the ocean. I'm a two time soccer state champion. I collect erasers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a Mormon all my life. I've mostly lived in Utah, except for two years where I spent my time on the island of Oahu. I enjoy sports, particularly soccer, as well as the outdoors. I'm a little quirky when it comes to collecting things and artistic stuff. Since I was 12 I've collected various erasers (not just the boring pencil topper kind) and created art pieces by using the foil from gum wrappers. Singing and playing the piano and guitar have been a fun past time. I just finished my first year of college and am preparing to be a missionary.

Why I am a Mormon

I continue to follow in Christ's footsteps because it brings me joy. This gospel brightens my perspective on life, even when I struggle. This joy and confidence creates a desire to live better and serve as He did. Life without this truth wouldn't be the same because I would be worried about doubts, decisions, and life in general. However, because I'm a Mormon I know who I am. I know there's always someone there for me, and that I can ask for guidance. I'm beyond grateful for the knowledge I have about where I came from, why I'm here and where I need to go. I know that as long as I put my trust in Christ, He will help me. All I need to do is try my hardest, and His mercy will come forth. This doesn't mean I can sit back and wait, but that if I do my part, God will do his and never leave me comfortless. I will forever be His, and He will forever be mine. This is why I'm a Mormon. Because of Him.

How I live my faith

I participate in my faith by attending church services every Sunday. I've just been asked to serve as a Sunday School teacher where I will have the opportunity to teach the youth for an hour every week. I also support other family members in their specific assignments in the church, whether it be during the week or on Sunday. Every month I have the wonderful opportunity of visiting a few sisters in the area to see how they are doing and to share a message with them. I pray, and personally study scripture, as well as other gospel texts in order to build my faith. I will also live my faith by leaving my family for a year and a half as I serve a proselyting mission. This will undoubtedly be a difficult yet rewarding life experience where I will have the opportunity to share this truth. It will be a new environment, a new language, a new lifestyle, but I can't wait to live this way for a year and a half.
