Hi I'm Nicholas Christian Collins

I was raised in Philadelphia, and now I'm preparing to leave for my mission to Cape Town, South Africa from Richfield Utah.

About Me

Hi my name is Nicholas Collins, but I've been going by my middle name, Christian, since i got baptized in November of 2013. I'd been living a somewhat lack-luster life, at least from an eternal perspective, for a little over 22 years. Needless to say, 22 years is essentially my entire life. A few months before my 23rd birthday, i was introduced to the missionaries in Rochester, Minnesota and the rest is history. I went to live in Richfield, Utah with the parents of Elder Thomas, one of the missionaries who taught me. I received the Priesthood on the 20th of April, Easter Sunday, 2014. Less than a month later I flew back to Philadelphia to baptize my mother on May 3rd, and confirm her the following day. I received my mission call October of last year, and will be going into the Johannesburg MTC March 5th, a few weeks from now. Cape Town here I come!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because: I know that Jesus is the Christ, I know that He and Heavenly Father AKA God loves us enough to have restored His gospel through Joseph Smith, who I know is a prophet of God, I know that Joseph translated the Book of Mormon, which I know to be a record of ancient Americans who also are men and prophets of God, and I know that Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet today, having had the keys and authority of prophethood passed in a direct line from Joseph Smith. How can i know all of this and NOT be a member. It's like knowing who is going to win and betting all-in on the losing team.

How I live my faith

Optimally, I read scriptures and pray daily. I love attending sacrament meeting, where i often have the opportunity to bless or pass the bread and water that signifies the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ; a beautiful and humbling ordinance. When it's my week, I also teach, a great chance to utilize the Holy Spirit if nothing else. I participate in family home evening with the singles ward and the lesson and activity they hold during. I adore institute, or scripture study, and go every week, sometimes twice a week to glean any knowledge I can from my peers and my instructor. Striving to hold a temple recommend is of the utmost importance. The way I see it, it is a goal that encompasses all of the commandments and covenants I have promised to keep. The way I live my faith is love my faith.
