Hi I'm Adam

I live in Utah. I'm a Mormon. I will be serving as a full-time missionary in the Canada Calgary mission for the next two years.

About Me

I love my family. I really enjoy playing all kinds of sports, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I play the saxophone, and have enjoyed playing in concert bands, jazz bands and marching bands over the past few years. I have completed a semester of school at Utah State University, but am taking time off of school to serve the Lord by going on a full-time mission to bring the gospel to God's children in Canada. When I return, I plan to graduate from school, go to Medical school, and eventually be a doctor.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has always been very firm members of the LDS church. I grew up going to church every week, and being taught the teachings in the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, by my parents. I have always believed that the religion I grew up with is true, but I couldn't tell you when that belief became knowledge. It was a very gradual thing. As I grew up living the things my parents have taught me, I noticed that the gospel made me happy, and whenever I heard or read or even thought about the truths of the gospel I have been learning my whole life, I always felt a feeling of peace and comfort and happiness that seems to fill my soul, a feeling that has continued to grow as I continue to live my faith. I now know this feeling to be the Spirit of God testifying that the things my parents have taught me are true. I know that God lives and loves each of us. I know that because He loves us He sent His son Jesus Christ to Earth to sacrifice himself for our sins, so that even though we are not perfect, we can become clean from our sins if we are willing to trust Him and follow His commandments the best that we can, and repent, and that we have the opportunity to live with God and with our families forever. Knowing that this is true has been the ultimate source of my happiness and my confidence and peace in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to obey God's commandments, and follow Christ's example in showing love to everyone. I believe that every human being is literally a spirit son or daughter of God, and I do my best to be kind to everyone, and I have come to realize that if you look for the good in everyone, you will eventually be able to see it, even in people you don't like at first. I also live my faith by sharing it with other people. I am a Mormon, and I'm not ashamed of it. In fact, I want everyone to know. Enjoy having discussions about God and my beliefs with other people, whether or not they share my beliefs. I will be spending the next two years sharing these things that I know to be true.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Adam
When we say "I'd like to bear my testimony" or anything like that, it means we want to share something that we know because we have felt the Spirit of God confirm our belief in it. For example, I know that God loves us, and that because Jesus Christ sacrificed himself for our sins, we can repent and be saved even though we are not perfect, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of God restored on the Earth, and that the Book of Mormon is true and the principles taught in it are truly the teachings of Christ.
