Hi I'm Katy

I am a college student at Brigham Young University, Idaho. But I'm taking taking a break to serve a mission for my church.

About Me

Since I was a small girl, I dreamed of becoming a nurse specialized in the care of premature infants. Right now, I'm just starting my study of nursing at Brigham Young University Idaho, but eventually, I would like to develop some new equipment for use in newborn care. I hope to reduce infant stress by improving the NICU enviroment so that it is more like the enviroment the infant was accustomed to before birth. I also love the cello and enjoy playing in my university's orchestra. Classical music for me relieves stress and helps me grow closer to God. My 4 sisters are my best friends and I love them dearly. Each one is very different and I feel so blessed to have them in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I believe there is such a thing as spiritual sight. For me, it starts out as faith, but the more I try to develop that faith and live as Christ did, the more my spiritual eyes are opened and that belief turns into knowlege. It's like somehow, God awakened in me, this inner capacity to see beyond what I could before. Slowly, the hazy lines become more defined there are moments when I feel God's presence so clearly, and I feel his all encompassing love so strongly, that I just know He's there. And with that foundation, other things start to come into focus too. I come to know that Joseph Smith was a real prophet and restored the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. The Book of Mormon is the direct word of God and that reading it purifies my thoughts and heart. I come to realize that I really need a Savior and that He can wash away all sin and leave me feeling totally and completely clean. Not only this, but He empathizes completely with my every pain, and can heal all broken hearts. With time, I come to see that there is a loving Maker that runs this universe, so everything has a plan and a purpose and no matter how confusing and painful sometimes, it will be okay. And anything else I wish to know, God can reveal to me if I am ready. I need not stumble in darkness--He loves me. Coming to know my Savior has given me such an exquisite hope that it has been worth every effort and sacrifice to come to know Him.

How I live my faith

In 3 days, I will fly to Salt Lake City and begin serving a mission for my church. I am very excited and eager to help others feel the love that our Savior has for all His children. I can't wait to share my love of the gospel every day!
