Hi I'm Sister Tara Kelly

I grew up in Aurora, Colorado. I am serving a mission in the WVCM! Volleyball is my passion and I'm a Momon!

About Me

I am the middle child of 5 girls and 1 boy and have an amazing Mom and Dad that work hard and raised us in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have an immense passion for volleyball and would play all day if I could! I have also finished my degree in cosmetology and am now a licensed cosmetologist and LOVE to color my hair! I am serving in the West Virginia Charleston mission for 18 months and it is the BEST decision I have ever made :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and I never had any doubt that the church was true but I didn't always understand the standards that were set. I didn't always know why we had such a strict law to abide by. Through many hardships and much prayer, scripture reading and repentance, I finally discovered what all the standards and principles meant to me and why they are so important. I would not change a single standard because I now know they are there to protect me and to bless my life and the lives of others. I want everyone to know what I now know and to experience the truth for themselves. The gospel of Jesus Christ changes lives. It changed mine. I am a Mormon because I believe that my Heavenly Father sent me here to be tried and tested and to overcome the temptations of the adversary. I know I can become what my Father wants me to be and I fully intend to become the best me possible. I know that by living the standards of the gospel I can be who my Father in Heaven intended for me to be. I know through prayer and studying the Bible and the Book of Mormon, we can learn all that God wants us to know. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior and He loves me as well as my Heavenly Father. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

The most important way I live my faith is by being obedient to the commandments set forth by our Heavenly Father. He knows far more than I do and I know that as I do as He asks, I can strive to be more like Him and gain happiness in this life and the life to come. He loves each and every one of us so much and wants all of us to come home to Him one day, and we can do this by living in accordance with our Father's will. As I have learned and studied daily, I have come to know more fully the Atonement of His Son, Jesus Christ and I am compelled to do better, be better every day. "True doctrine, understood, changes attitudes and behavior. The study of the doctrines of the gospel will improve behavior quicker than a study of behavior will improve behavior." -President Boyd K. Packer

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Sister Tara Kelly
Mormon church services consist of 3 parts. The first hour is called the sacrament meeting. It is simple and beautiful. All are welcome to attend and in this first meeting we stay together as families to learn of the Savior together with those that we love. The second meeting is called Sunday School when we split off into age groups and learn from unpaid teachers that volunteer their time to help children and adults alike to learn of the Savior at their own level of learning. The third hour is when the women and the men separate in the different classes and learn together in classes called Relief Society and Priesthood meetings. Here we are able to learn with men and women that have similar problems and struggles in today's world so we can love, support and help one another. Show more Show less
