Hi I'm Lori

I'm a wife, a mother of 4, mother-in-law to 4, grandmother to 5 boys with one more boy coming in May, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 33 years to a wonderful man and have 4 incredible children who are all married to 4 equally incredible spouses. I have 5 sweet, rambunctious grandsons, and one more grandson coming this spring. I love spending time with all of my family. I love skiing with them, camping with them, and just plain hanging out with this group! I also enjoy getting in some exercise each day like weightlifting, and cardio work. I love to ride my road bike--yet I hate going in traffic, so I find rural places to ride that are safe! Last summer I did my first 50 mile ride and had a blast doing it. I love good salads...my husband says he's never seen a salad I didn't like! And I enjoy a good dessert, too!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have been a Mormon my entire life, I also have had my own conversion process. As a young adult I began to question if this was what I wanted in my life, and began to stray from the teachings I had grown up with. For several months I continued this way, but the longer I went, the less happy I was. I began to wonder if this path I was choosing was really what I wanted. One Sunday, I attended the baby blessing of my newborn nephew. It was the first time I had been to church in a long time. While there, my soul was touched and I knew I wanted to come back. I began to pray and to read the Book of Mormon for the very first time. That book has changed my life. It testifies of Jesus Christ and his atonement and love for us. I am so grateful for the love of our Heavenly Father to send His son, Jesus Christ, to atone for our sins so that we can repent and change. I am so grateful for the love of our Savior, that He would give his life so that we could all be resurrected, just as He is, and have the chance to return to our Heavenly Father. Because of Him, our families can be united forever. I know our Savior offers His grace to us because He is the only one that has felt all of the feelings we feel...He experienced it all in the Garden of Gethsemane. Every pain, every affliction, everything. And because of that, his atonement, He is the one to help us through everything. I have felt his love and this divine aid so many times in my life. He strengthens me in so many ways. I love His gospel, and I love keeping the commandments...I feel so happy as I try to be a true disciple of Jesus. My testimony of this gospel is my greatest treasure.

How I live my faith

I am preparing now to go be a missionary for our church for 3 years in the Canada, Calgary mission. I am very excited, yet humbled and a bit overwhelmed at this opportunity. My husband and I will oversee about 200 young missionaries from our church, and help them in their missionary work, as well as any other needs they have during the time they are a missionary (which is anywhere from 18 months to 2 years). I have always loved young adults, and am looking forward to working with them. I am also excited to be able to spend 24/7 serving my Savior, Jesus Christ, and try to teach people about his wonderful gospel that is here upon the earth. I will be very sad to leave my family, this will be the hardest part for me; but I know that what I am doing is right.
