Hi I'm Ashley

I grew up in Arizona. I love to learn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy the arts in general. I love to read and write creatively. I enjoy music from all genres, however Classical music is my favorite. I enjoy playing the piano and cello, and have even started learning guitar. I'm hoping to someday to go medical school, and maybe someday write a novel.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Latter-Day Saints. When I was a kid it bothered me that I didn't quite know for sure if the Church I had been born into was true. One night I decided to pray to God until I knew whether or not this faith I had been raised in was true or not. I prayed all night. For hours I begged God to tell me if the Church was true. Finally, I gave up, exhausted and disappointed. After I crawled into bed, I felt this overwhelming feeling wash over me. I felt so loved I could barely contain myself. All thoughts of doubt and fear left in an instant, and I remember knowing without a doubt that this was a sign from God, that the Church of Jesus Christ was and is true. I knew then that nothing could ever make me doubt the church and it's truthfulness, not even if I was standing alone before hell's gaping mouth could I ever doubt what I knew then, and what I still know to this day.

How I live my faith

I go to Church every Sunday and love participating in the different classes. I love taking the opportunity to share with others how the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings joy to me in my life. I also love when I'm asked to talk in Church, because often times it allows me to learn more about myself and about how I can better serve those around me.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Ashley
Living in this world is like looking through a window pane, muddied with the lies that feed off of society and which society then propagates. The gospel is like a beacon that clears the way, making clear was is truth and untruth, what is right and what is wrong. Without this beacon my life would be utterly miserable, void of joy, and full of pain and frustration. Missionaries are driven by the desire to bring this beacon of hope to others, to spread the joy of the gospel to others who are lost. In a world where altruism and service seems to be deemed as overrated, we as Mormons believe that true happiness comes only when we serve others. Missionaries work hard to bring the gospel to others because they have tasted of that glorious knowledge and want others to have in their lives to enjoy. Missionaries give approximately two years of their lives in order to spread the good word, and although this may seem like a big sacrifice, most past missionaries will tell you that they love their missions and don't regret the time they spent serving others. Missionaries are true examples of service: when you give all you have and lose nothing of yourself. Show more Show less
