Hi I'm Jyri

I am from Finland living in Texas with my wife, two boys and a girl. I am the owner of Houston Floorball Club and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in FInland as the only member of our church all the way from first grade to graduation from high school. I served as paratrooper for the Finnish Special forces before receiving my mission call to Texas, USA. After mission I attended a church school in Idaho and met my wife that we have been married going 8 years now. After graduation we moved back to Finland to continue my education. During this time I worked part/full-time, as well as well as both of our boys being born in Finland. Our next adventure took us to Texas even before graduation papers were mailed to us. It has been another 2 years and working in the logistics industry. As one of my hobbies I brought floorball equipment from Finland and started out playing with 6 guys that has now evolved to a Floorball Club that we get to play in a league and travel to tournaments and to coach team USA WU19 for 2016 World Cup in Canada. The week goes normally by really fast with balancing family life, work and church responsibilities.

Why I am a Mormon

As I grew up as a mormon I was mainly using the "borrowed" light from my parents. It was not until I received my own testimony of the gospel that Jesus Christ is our Saviour and God is our Father that I understood that I needed to follow Gods path that he has given us so we can return back to the presence of God and Jesus Christ. During my mission while serving the church and the community there was one thing that stood out to me. Being told by a fellow Christian that you have the light of Christ in your eyes, makes me want to continue to do the little goods things that will make a difference in this world. "What manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am" (3 Nephi 27:27)

How I live my faith

Living the gospel is ever changing as you get to serve the church congregation and the community in various capabilities. Being asked to volunteer in the nursery with 2 year olds, helping with the youth temple trips or Eagle Scout projects for the community to helping others to come unto Christ through missionary work, teaching, and serving other to hasten the Lords work. Including visiting sick and the elderly or someone in spiritual or temporal need.
