Hi I'm Jacie

I'm a musical theatre maniac. I'm a Ginger. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

Right now, I am 18 and preparing to serve a mission for the LDS church. I am a student at BYU-Idaho. I just changed my major to theatre and dance. Performing has always been something I have loved to do, but I knew it wasn't a smart or logical choice for school. As such, I declared International Studies with a minor in French. While I had felt peace about it, there were still many questions. After taking a tour and talking to some professors, I felt like I needed to change to theatre. Being stubborn as I am I ignored it, but the prompting did not go away. I have now switched, and everything has fallen into place and I have greater peace than I ever did with International Studies.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and for a long while I took that for granted. I never really understood what it meant. I "borrowed" from my parents testimonies without really developing one myself. As I went through high school, I didn't know who I was. I was lost. I had a hard time feeling the spirit, and went through the motions of service because that was what was expected of me. My senior year in seminary we were learning about the Book of Mormon. So I decided that it was time to really put Moroni's challenge into effect. I read it with a great desire to know if it was true. And when I finished I prayed. And nothing happened. There was no miraculous experience. I didn't know what to do. So I didn't do anything. Time passed and I still didn't have my answer, or so I thought. I realized after talking to the sister missionaries that it doesn't have to be a huge experience. I had always known the Book of Mormon was true. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church of Christ restored to this earth.

How I live my faith

I try everyday to be better than I was the day before. I am a Sunday School teacher for my ward, and as I prepare my lessons I am able to feel of the spirit and be inspired about what to prepare and how to teach certain doctrines. As I help teach others I am lifted and taught myself. As I give of myself, I am blessed. While I am preparing to serve a mission, I have learned what it means to truly give of myself and serve as Christ did.
