Hi I'm Bruce

I'm a Father of 5, a Scot from Fraserburgh, an aviation fire fighter, I love to play Badminton and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After leaving school I signed up for military service and was stationed with my regiment in Bielefeld, Germany. Shortly after, we were sent to Saudi Arabia to serve in the Gulf War, and afterwards I received the Gulf War Medal. After leaving the army I studied for several years (during the early years of marriage with young children) and gained a bachelors degree in Psychology. After exploring different avenues of work, I finally settled as a fire fighter at a local airport. I enjoy the comradery and team spirit of the watch members I work with. I enjoy the buzz of the station alarms ringing as I attend to emergencies and the smile on the faces of the children which visit, as they get hands on with the fire equipment. I'm extremely blessed to love my work which also helps to keep me fit and healthy. I actively enjoy working out at the gym and get great satisfaction from playing badminton. I enjoy spending time with my wife as we walk along the beautiful coast lines of the town in which we live. It gives us plenty of time to chat and share our feelings without distractions. I'm a father of three girls and two boys whom I love very much. I enjoy family time with them playing board games and sharing together in fun times. They are the most important people in my life next to my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised in the church, there came a time when I needed to find out for myself about the truthfulness of the things I had been taught. I followed the promise given by Moroni in the Book of Mormon chapter 10 verses 3-5 which tells us that if we ask God sincerely, having faith he will answer, that we will receive an answer. After a serious study of the scriptures and heart felt prayers, I received a witness from the Holy Ghost which filled me with joy, peace and happiness. I have had many witnesses from the Holy Ghost since then, that has reinforced my belief in God and the gospel of Christ. I have found that for every commandment and law of God I keep, that he gives me a blessing. The more I strive to live a Christlike life the happier and more fulfilling life seems to get. I have a more optimistic outlook on life and can see the hand of God in blessing us. I'm so grateful for the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life, as it guides and directs me through the subtle promptings in my heart and mind to make the right decisions for me and my family. I believe with all my heart that if I continue to strive to live a Christlike life, keeping the commandments and repenting regularly, that through the atonement of Jesus Christ, my sins will be forgiven and I will return with my family into God's presence and receive eternal life. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and feel extremely fortunate to have the privilege of knowing these things to be true.

How I live my faith

My parents joined the Mormon faith before I was born and raised me along with my other 5 siblings. They taught me to believe in Jesus Christ as my Personal Saviour and Redeemer. They taught me His gospel from the scriptures and encouraged me to be Christlike at all times. I'm privileged to serve as the Bishop of a small congregation which allows me many opportunities to get to know and serve the families within my area. I enjoy spending time with the youth and hope I can be a positive influence in helping them be the best they can be. I like to be involved in service and enjoy the feelings that come when you are a part of helping others.
