Hi I'm Michael Rogers

I am an attorney in Southern Washington. I'm a foodie, world traveler and a father of 2 beautiful girls. I am a Mormon.

About Me

During my Junior year in high school (1993), I was an exchange student for about a year in Rubtsovsk, Russia. During my time in Russia I lived with a wonderful family and was able to learn Russian which I use regularly with the relatively dense population of Russians in Vancouver, Washington. After high school, I served a mission in Seoul Korea. For most of my mission, I focused my efforts on serving the Korean Deaf population. During that time, I learned to speak both Korean and Korean Sign Language. Both of my experiences enriched my life and shaped who I am today. I believe that these experiences not only strengthened my testimony of Jesus Christ, but also gave me a profound appreciation for the physical, cultural, and religious diversity of the Lord's children. After my mission, I studied at the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!!!), where I met my beautiful wife and eternal companion, Danielle at a Barn Dance sponsored by the Mormon Church. Upon completion of our studies at the UO, we moved to Albany, New York where I studied law (Albany Law) and earned an MBA (Union College). During my 3rd year of law school, my wife and I had our first daughter, Emma. After graduation from law school, we moved back to Eugene where I landed a job back at the UO as a Contracts Attorney. After 4 years at the UO, we moved to Vancouver where I now work as a Corporate Attorney for a long-term healthcare company. 3 years ago, we welcomed our second daughter, Olivia.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the LDS church provides a great foundation for my family and me to grow closer to Jesus Christ. I believe that the LDS church is Heavenly Father's true and living church. I believe that it is an restored extension of the ancient church founded by Jesus Christ and that it is lead by prophets and apostles who have the same power and authority as Peter, James and John. It is through Christ's gospel that I find faith, peace, joy and happiness.

How I live my faith

At church I serve the youth as a Scout Master and as an advisor to the 12-13 year-old young men. My experiences as Scout Master have been a dream for me. My father was my Scout Master when I was young, and I have had a great time "paying-forward" the great experiences I had as a Boy Scout. It is extremely rewarding to watch these boys grow and develop into quality young men.
