Hi I'm Amanda

I ran cross country in high school. I call the East Coast home. I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering. And I'm a mormon.

About Me

Hi! My name is Amanda, I'm currently studying to become a Mechanical Engineer. Probably. At least, that's the plan right now, but it always seems that plans change a few times before you find the right one, so we'll see. While I was never the most competitive, I ran track and cross country all throughout middle and high school, eventually competing on the varsity level. I also played a little basketball, which was fun even though I was kind of terrible at it. I went to a Math and Science magnet for most of high school, which sounds very impressive at family reunions I am a netflix connosieur. I love music of all sorts, including show tunes, 80s and 90s rock, country, instrumental covers, and alternative stuff. Oh! I love cooking! I'm not that good at it, but it's fun, and is generally a precursor to eating, which is always a good time. I'm trying to learn all the words to "Semi-Charmed Life" so I'll have a weird talent I can brag about.. And that's pretty much me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member, because every good thing in my life comes from this Gospel. Because I am a more successful, happier person the more I learn about and live it. Becaue more than anything I want it's blessings in my future home. And I want it's guidence as I strive to raise my own children. Because I believe it is true. Everything. I believe my God loves me. I believe he sent his Son to this Earth to suffer, not only so that my imperfection could be redeemed to heaven, but so that I would never be alone. I believe He strives to find every way to bless us he can. I believe He has a sense of humor. And I know that I have heard his voice in Father's blessings. And no other faith can give me that. And I cannot give it up.

How I live my faith

I think the best of everything: art, science, math, music, literature, it all comes together in such beauty, and connotates that there is a God. And I include this approach and awe in all my areas of study. In my church, I have served as a Sunday School teacher, which I really enjoyed. I also really enjoy visiting teaching, where I go visit a couple girls from my ward, who are really cool people, who I'd never otherwise would have met. Also, I can testify that it makes a huge difference in my family life, not only in the way I interact with my family, but in the way they treat me and our overall relationship, especially with my parents. Over all, I enjoy the community my church creates, even though, and sometimes because, it pushes me out of my introverted comfort zone. More importantly, I love how this faith colors all my interactions in my life. I strive to look at people with the love I should.
