Hi I'm Brian Hyde

I'm about to leave on a Mission to Guadalajara Mexico. I've grown up in the Portland Oregon area most of my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of four kids. My favorite subjects in school were math and science. I went to Westview High School and graduated in 2014. I was the Captain of the Robotics Team there for two years and the Mechanical Team Leader the year before. I'm an eagle scout. I enjoy welding, rugby, basketball, volleyball, building anything with my hands, ultimate Frisbee, spending time with friends, spending time with family, archery, shooting guns, and scouting activities. after my mission I desire to attend BYU Provo to earn my Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and then attend Utah State to earn a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering. Working at Boeing or NASA would probably be my dream job. I love volunteer work. I've had the opportunity to work with a few organizations an have loved every minute of it. I've worked with Habitats for Humanity to build townhouses for people who couldn't originally afford a place to live. I've worked on bicycles for Bikes for Humanity for people who needed a tune up. that organization provided transportation to people who didn't have cars. I've worked at Animal Aid: a non-kill shelter for cats. I've had the opportunity to work with the Oregon Food Bank also to fight the war on hunger. Overall I've had a lot of time to work with volunteer organizations not to mention various random service projects. I highly recommend volunteering for any of these organizations. They are doing their part in this world to make it a better place.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I know in my heart that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church. I am happier than if I wasn't Mormon. It doesn't necessarily make life easier but it makes it possible. It gives you hope to get past trials in life. I have learned that trials can make us more like Christ. And through him we are given the strength to push on. I cant imagine my life without the church. It is the best decision of my life and am glad that I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday with my mother and occasionally we get my siblings to attend with us. I follow the standards and an example to others around wherever I am. Everyday I seek out ways to be more Christ-like. I am earnestly preparing to serve my mission and am excited to teach others about what I believe. I know when I am following the guidelines of the church and living how I should I am blessed.
