Hi I'm Roger Gomez

I live in California. I swim and play basketball. I love music. I'm serving in the Missouri Independence Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Cali and love to spend time with my family! I love all different kinds of sports but my top two favorite are swimming and basketball. Golden State Warriors are my favorite team :) Going to the beach and surfing is my most favorite thing to do. Traveling and hanging out with my friends are also things I like to do. Right now I'm and missionary, preaching the gospel to everybody and I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

Family is very important in my life. Family is the essential unit in this beautiful gospel. Everything that is learned from this gospel helps motivate me physically and spiritually. My faith grows every single day. I know that my happiness comes from my relationship with my Father in Heaven. I have come to know the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it's teachings. My conversion happened in my high school years where I asked questions and received answers for myself through my own study and prayer. I now know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and another testament of Jesus Christ. It came about the way that our first prophet in this dispensation, Joseph Smith, said it did. And, because of the sacrifices of our early church members, we now have the fullness of the gospel. I am so grateful for a prophet in these days to lead and guide us all in the right direction. I know that through our own actions and faithfulness to the promises we make, we can live again with our Heavenly Father and His son, and our families forever in the life to come.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to be a good example to others. I have learned so much from good people in the church. Sharing the gospel with others is valued in the church, because we want everyone to feel the joy of having the knowledge of our Heavenly Father and his plan for everyone on earth. I love sharing my testimony at swim meets when people ask me about my religion. It brings me joy. A lot of my family aren't members of the church so I want them to understand that the church is true happiness. I now live with the faith that all will be made right, no matter what, and live each day by not relying on my own understanding of things but rather Gods view on all matters. I take notice of his ways, and truly let him direct my path. (Proverbs 3:5) I attempt to recognize his heavenly hand in every part of my life. An athlete's life is a lifestyle choice, much the same as a lifestyle taught to live by the church. I do not drink alcohol, smoke, or do drugs of any kind. These things are some of the ways I live both my religion and being an athlete. I have come to know and understand that the choices I make daily lead me to do better now, and will benefit me in the future.
