Hi I'm Shema

I'm from the Philippines.I love music.I'm a missionary currently serving in California Oakland/San Francisco Mission.I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a sister, she's the eldest. I also have two brothers, a returned missionary and the other one is currently serving his mission and I'm the youngest. My mom died when I was 16 years old but I know that someday we will be together forever because of the great Plan of Happiness of our Heavenly Father. Those trials and challenges that I am facing doesn't stop me from living but it gives me more courage to endure and live righteously because I know the Lord prepares a way for me to overcome those challenges in my life. I love my family. My family loves music. All of us is a member of the choir on our District. I love dancing, singing and playing musical instruments. When I was in college, I am a member of the school brass band and I played the alto saxophone. Now, I'm supposed to be a 3rd year college student taking Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering but I have this great desire to help and serve the Lord by going on a mission, so I decided to stop going to college for the mean time. When I got my mission call, I am really really happy and excited to serve the people in California Oakland/San Francisco Mission. I love serving other people and I am really grateful for this opportunity to serve the people in other country for the next 18 months of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my parents and I am very grateful to them because without them I would never know the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I grew up in the Church and I am happy to know the teachings of the Lord that made me a better person. When I was young I really don't know why are we going to Church. I just go to Church because my family is doing it. But when I grew older I learned many things especially my purpose why am I here on earth. I am a shy type person but I learned to overcome my weaknesses. I even develop my talents that I thought I couldn't do. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and I really felt the spirit and I am starting to ask "What is the Book of Mormon?" and I eventually read the book. As I study and read it the questions I have in my mind was answered and I knew from the time I've started to read it that it is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Now, I'm not going to Church just because my family is doing it, I go to Church because I want to know more about the Lord and to learn the things that the Lord wants us to do and I commit myself to follow the commandments of God. I am happy that I found out myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the restored and only true church of Jesus Christ here on earth. As I search and study the scriptures, my desire to share it to other people increases and I decided to be an instrument of the Lord to let our brothers and sisters know the fullness of the gospel and I also want them to feel the happiness I felt and the blessings my family enjoyed today. I am not saying that we are rich financially but we are rich spiritually. Heavenly Father loves all His children.

How I live my faith

In the Church or in school, I am always asked to help organize a talent show. Everybody knows I love music and dancing so they want me to choreograph the presentation. I'm always excited every time I was asked because it's my oppotunity to develop the talents I have. I always prayed to Heavenly Father to help me find ideas and He never fail me. He has great confidence in me so I must have some confidence in myself too. The people who asked me believes in my ability and I am very happy because of that. In every decision that I make I always asked Heavenly Father if it is the right thing to do. Whenever I received an answer from Him it builds up my faith and trust to Him and also to His Only Begotten son, our Savior Jesus Christ. I always depend on the Lord because I know He will lead me to the right path. Heavenly Father wants us to depend on Him and He is waiting and wants you to talk to Him. I have this testimony that God answers our prayers. Even the decision I made on going on a mission, I did consult to Him and I really felt that He needs me. And I accept the responsibilty to help our brothers and sisters out there to receive the fullness of the Gospel.
