Hi I'm Chip

I was raised in Salt Lake City. Mom drove a few of us to early morning Seminary, sometimes taking along our cat for a ride.

About Me

My nickname is Chip. I have five gorgeous daughters and 12 grandchildren. If this wasn't blessings enough, my life's work was very enjoyable as I worked for a well-known firearms and sporting goods firm. A grown-up toy store for any outdoorsman. My sweet wife accompanies me on many journeys: from a backyard garden to the wilds of the earth. She monitors the budget, keeps us on track and we are very happy. I have close friends whom I have been with all my life. They have stayed by me through some tough trials. My interests are hunting and fishing with my buds, parties with my girls, fixing meals with my wife and traveling with her. We will soon be leaving for Melbourne, Australia where we will be serving a mission for our church. We are blessed with good health and powerful convictions that our religion contains the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ and we wish to share it with others. I love our grandchildren. I kiss their little faces off and take them fishing and show them the wonders of the world. With the older children, we have great talks and marvelous adventures. A observant poet said, "Children dance before they learn their isn't anything that isn't music." Children are my teachers. It is pure joy to read to them until they fall asleep. I also love to putter with projects in the garage like old sports cars, woodworking, maintenance and repair. Life is good! Understanding why we are here and where we are going in this life is the true key to happiness and peace.

Why I am a Mormon

There are so many teachings about God and Jesus Christ, involving so many different kinds of religious worship. They are good doctrines, they preach the scriptures found in the Bible and the people who believe and worship how they feel they should are good people. But can all these religions be right? There is confusion, questions and complexity of doctrine. Churches today have much good in them. I believe the Church of Jesus Christ is true because I have tested it by living it. I have had feelings coming from without, testifying to my soul that Joseph Smith was a prophet . That Joseph did see God the Father and His son. I know, not from any man, but from a still small voice sent from God, affirming that this Church is true. I feel this Holy Spirit as I listen to latter-day prophets and apostles, testifying that God lives, that His son Jesus Christ lives. I have felt the peace this Gospel brings. It changes lives, it blesses and comforts in times of adversity. I know it comes from God and His son, to point the way to peace, how to serve our neighbor and how to endure through personal struggles. I know that God lives, and Jesus Christ is His son, that God sends His Spirit to show us the way to happiness in our lives. I know it to be true.

How I live my faith

My wife and I are embarking on a two-year ministry to Melbourne, Australia. We have good health and great faith. We love Jesus Christ and want to share our knowledge about Him. The family is paramount to stability and safety during life. It is where we are taught how to live, how to survive and how to get along with others. l have had a wonderful upbringing and enjoyed great blessings as I was taught about Jesus Christ. This foundation has been a very strong resource and assurance throughout my life as I have been living how I was taught to live, with love, trust, prayer and studying the life of our Savior. No other source or study can substitute for His words, for we are His work and His glory. I know He knows my name and loves each one of us. Life was not meant to be easy, but as I follow the path of Jesus Christ it leads me to an understanding of how to deal with the turmoil, depression, setbacks and often beckoning questions of "why we are here, where we came from and where we are going." To know these answers brings me a comforting peace. I love to study the words of Jesus. It begins with prayer to know the truth. I know God answers sincere petitions in His name. What I am afraid of, or unsure about, I can ask Him directly. He has comforted me in times of stress, whispered things through His Spirit to my mind and heart of how to live my life. He is close to all of His children. I thank Him daily for my many blessings. We have beautiful temples in the church, built all over the world. I may visit any of them anytime. I can receive instruction, renew my faith in God and am reassured that He lives and is mindful of me. Visiting the temple reminds me that through obedience to His commandments I can be happy. This quiet, peaceful assurance can be had by everyone who has faith to believe. A scripture says, "Lay up your treasures in heaven, for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
