Hi I'm Chrissy Steed

I am a small town Alberta girl, I am a school teacher, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from Brigham Young University Idaho, which is a church institution, and it was a spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically challenging four years of my life. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, which makes me a school teacher. I love working with students of all ages, and it has really become a passion of mine. Aside from my profession, my interests revolve around my family and friends and doing activities that allow me to spend time with them. My most recent adventure was living in Las Vegas, Nevada, where I learned to love the city life. However, now back in Alberta, I think I might always be a small town girl at heart.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family where my parents and siblings were all active and strong members of the church. Each member in my family has helped me understand and truly appreciate what the gospel of Jesus Christ is all about. However, throughout my life I have had to make decisions on my own of the type of person I want to be, and the path in life that I want to take. I have chosen to be a follower of Christ. Why? Because life is just better that way. This church teaches me to be loving and caring of all people, and to give of myself. When I give up my time, efforts, and talents for the benefit of another, then that is when I can grow into a better citizen and person. I am a Mormon because Jesus Christ gives me hope and reason to wake up every morning. A friend of mine once asked me what it was that made me get out of bed every morning, and I didn't have any extraordinary answer, I can't even remember what I told him. But let me tell you, I get out of bed each morning because I know that I am loved by a God and Heavenly Father. I am not alone, and I never have to endure life alone, because He is there. Each morning is the start of a brand new day where I have been given the opportunity to prove myself and possibly help someone else along their way. I get out of bed each morning because I have a reason to live, and I mean truly LIVE my life. And THAT is what this church has done for me. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints speaks only truth and hope, and I cannot deny that. I love being a Mormon, and I love being a follower of Christ.

How I live my faith

Everything I do from a day to day basis revolves around my faith in Jesus Christ. I believe that it is important to live and follow His teachings of kindness, forgiveness, and charity whenever possible. I live my faith by serving the Lord through my church leadership positions and callings. From teaching the gospel through Sunday School, and visiting the ladies in my ward, to being an activities committee member, I have been actively involved in the church. I live my faith by striving every day to be a person worthy of one day being in the presence of God.
