Hi I'm Cody

I grew up in rural southern Alberta. I'm currently a professional student. I'm I mormon.

About Me

As previously mentioned I am currently in school. I have already graduated with a Bachelor of Science but am currently applying for more school in either the fields of dentistry or audiology. Outside of school I enjoy being active and love playing basketball and volleyball. I have also recently started playing golf as well since starting work at a golf course over the past couple of summers. I also enjoy music. I have been involved in singing in an a Capella group as well as in a choir. Aside from singing, I also have started learning to play the bass guitar and play in a band with some friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of this church. However, I have not stayed a member just because that is all that I have known. As I have grown older I began looking at what I really believed in. When I moved away for school I was on my own and was wholly responsible for the lifestyle that I would choose to live. It was at this point that I really began to solidify what it was that I believed in. At this point I had the opportunity to serve a full time mission for the church. This was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. At the start of my mission I decided that I would have to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I really believed in the things that I was teaching. I had liked the way that I had been living but to this point I had not really gained that sure testimony that this was the true church. I spent a lot of time in prayer asking for a witness that this was the truth. As I was listening to someone speak on day the impression came to me that I already knew that this was the truth. It wasn't a big life changing experience but it was still an experience that I will not forget. I know that this is the restored church of Jesus Christ and that it is lead by a modern day prophet. That through the principles of the restored gospel we can prepare ourselves to return to God's presence and live with him again. The gospel gives me the knowledge that there is a plan for us. There is a reason to life. I also know that I will be able to be with my family for all eternity. That is something that gives me hope and I desire to continue to live the principles that I have been taught. Finally, I continue to live the gospel because I love the Savior, that because of Him I can be better and overcome my weaknesses.

How I live my faith

Still being in school and single I have the privilege of participating in a congregation (ward) made up of other members that are in similar circumstances as myself. These wards are known as young single adult wards. Within the ward I act as the membership clerk. This give me the opportunity to meet with the new members of the ward and help them as they make the transition into the ward.
