Hi I'm Marci Van Wagoner

I grew up in Bakersfield, California. I am a mother of three children and have been happily married for 28 years and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have the best job in the world: a mom. Though I taught elementary school for five years and loved it, I loved teaching my own children the best. They are now college age and have moved out so I my opportunities to teach them are fewer. However, I love learning about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and enjoy taking religion classes through the BYU Continuing Education Program (CES). I was blessed to be born into a musical family. I play the piano and have spent my entire life singing with my five sisters and one brother. I have received so much joy and received so many blessings in sharing this talent with others. I love to cook and I especially love to eat. Ice cream is a favorite treat of mine. I love walking every morning with my best friend because it gives me the opportunity to strengthen my relationship with her and stay in shape.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love my Savior and know that he llived a perfect life. He gave his life and suffered in my behalf and in behalf of all of God's children. I can be forgiven of my sins becaus of his great atoning sacrifice. He succors me in times of sorrow and distress. He encourages me, strengthens me and forgives me when I repent. I love Him and know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His Church restored to the earth during these last days. I receive so much joy by living the principles of the gospel and participating I this great organization. The doctrines of the Gospel of Jesus Christ give me direction in my life and help me to make decisions that bring the greatest joy and keep me safe and happy. I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

Currently I attend a YSA (Young Single Adult) ward with my husband. He serves as the First Counselor in the Bishopric which is a leadership position for the congregation, and I have the opportunity to interact and learn from these amazing young people. I serve on the service committee which allows us to reach out to the people in our community and gather food and clothing, clean up the neighborhood and reach out in support of our military. I love to attend the temple every week and am looking forward to learning more about family history work, searching out my Ancestors and learning more about my roots.
