Hi I'm Emma Jacobson

I am from San Tan Valley, Arizona. I am going to be serving a in the Chile, Antofagasta mission this June. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an 18 year old college student who is currently pursuing a degree in psychology. Some of my dreams include graduating from BYU with a master's degree to become a practicing marriage and family counselor, serving a church mission, getting married in the temple, and starting my own eternal family (maybe not in that exact order though). I enjoy painting, art history, reading, writing, long-distance running, camping, and being outside in nature. I also love taking family vacations (especially to Disneyland!), spending time with friends, and learning new things. And I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon?.... I am a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I love God. I've come to know Him through prayer, daily scripture study, and attending church, and I know He lives. He exists and loves me. He has a perfect plan laid out for me for me to learn and progress as I live my life and follow His teachings. I am a Mormon not because I was born in the church but because as I have applied the gospel and teachings of Christ into my life, I have found that I am a much happier and better person. The things that the Church teaches are true. It is the full gospel of Christ that has been restored to the earth, and it brings me so much joy and peace in my life as I live its teachings. It works. It's true, and I know that because the Spirit has touched my heart and let me know that for myself. I know that as I follow God's commandments and strive to be like my Savior, Jesus Christ, that God can guide and direct my life so that I can be happy and have joy not only in this life, but also in the next. It is my goal to one day live with God again and the gospel of Jesus Christ helps me to prepare and become that person. It is a life pattern that little by little, day by day members can one day become perfect through the Atonement of Christ and one day be able to live with God again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith mainly by being an example. As I go to school, work, and just out in public I show that I love Christ and that I am His disciple by dressing modestly, speaking kindly, and giving service to those I come in contact with. Sometimes something as simple as opening a door, smiling, or being courteous when I speak to others can say a lot about what kind of person I am and what I believe in. I recently received my church mission call to serve in Chile, so I am living my faith right now by making that commitment to serve God and His children by giving those 18 months to the Lord and share the gospel to those all over the world.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Emma Jacobson
Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a very joyful and fulfilling lifestyle. I know that as I have lived the teachings of the Church, I have found great happiness and peace in knowing that I'm living a life that is pleasing to my Heavenly Father. As I keep the commandments of God, live the Word of Wisdom, the Law of Chastity, and strive to follow the Savior's perfect example, I feel my heart changing. I am becoming the person Heavenly Father wants me to become little by little, day by day as I use Christ's Atonement daily and exercise my faith through prayer, scripture study, and church attendance. It may seem like the gospel is just a bunch of rules, but it's not when you see why we have it. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a life pattern that changes and molds each and every one of us into better people, and with enough practice to its principles, we can all become like Christ one day: perfect and worthy to live with God again.
