Hi I'm Jonah

I have spent the last three years in Gilbert, Arizona. I love to swim and will be serving a in the Chile Concepción mission.

About Me

I was born in Lawton Oklahoma and have lived in several areas around the United States including Michigan, Colorado and Arizona. Some of the things that I enjoy are swimming, shooting, and volleyball. While swimming in high school I broke several school records and received a medal at state in our four man relay. I also have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. I have had a couple jobs for the past 3 years including landscaper, lifeguard, cart associate, and sales associate. Out of all the jobs that I have worked lifeguarding has been my favorite with the ability of learning important skills in lifesaving and first aid. I just recently was able to participate in the Gilbert, Arizona temple cultural celebration and temple dedication which was an extremely special and powerful experience. Which really sparked the desire to go serve a mission. I will be serving in the Chile Concepción mission.

Why I am a Mormon

One of the reasons why I am Mormon is through service. When you really serve others with a good heart without wanting any personal gain you can feel the spirit with you. One of the ways that I feel closest to my savior is when I am serving others. I have come to the principles in the gospel are meant for us to live a truly happy life without regret or sin. I have learned in my personal life that when I am keeping the commandments and living the principles of the gospel I am happy and I do not have to worry about most of the troubles that we obtain on the earth. I would say that the biggest reason on why I am Mormon is because I have read the book of Mormon and through praying to my father I have received my spiritual confirmation that it is true. There is no other way I would want to live my life and this is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Some things that I do to live my faith include volunteering at a food bank every week. Some of the things that I do there include bagging produce, stocking shelves, and assisting patrons around the food bank. I love to serve the patrons and it brings great blessings to my life. Another thing that I do to assist the community is home teaching. It is basically me and my dad going to about 3 families a month and checking up on them and seeing if there are ways we are able to help and serve them. It builds a connection between us and the members that we serve and brings happiness to both our lives and others. Within the church I am called to be a missionary and a teacher for the ward. This means that I go around with the missionaries and help teach and serve others. This also includes some weeks of me teaching lessons to people at church. One way that I am planning in the future to live my faith is by serving a full time (2 years) mission in Concepción, Chile. This means me going to another country and me preaching the gospel and me serving the people of Chile.
