Hi I'm Frank Douglas Mathis

I was born and raised in Carbon County, Utah. My family were early settlers of this area. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised on a farm and have a deep love and respect for animals. Have an aptitude for machines and love mechanics and mechanical things. Also love the outdoors and mountains. Spent time in the Mission Field during the 60's and later, time in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Oklahoma and Germany. My wife and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple just before entering the service. Had our 1st child while in the Army and later had 5 More. Have 22 grandchildren. Owned my own business for 9 years and then went to work in the construction Industry, working as a Ready Mix Company area supervisor both in Price and Southern Utah, Arizona and Nevada. Retired in January 2010 and have been taking advantage of the time I have by spending time in our mountain cabin or riding my Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a good Mormon home with faithful parents and loving family members. I was the last of 8 children and especially love my older Brothers and Sisters. I was very active growing up in the church but in my late teen age years, struggled with my testimony of the Gospel. It was not until all my friends started coming home from their Mission that I realized I wanted to serve a 2 year Mission. That was great time in my life, being able to do something for others, concentrate on the Gospel and not worry about any thing else for two years. After my Mission I was able to meet and marry in the temple my eternal companion, she also being raised in the church and having a testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have served in the church all our lives and both have a testimony of the restored Gospel, the Prophet Joseph Smith and the Book Of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have always been involved in some form of Musical expression. I have sung in choral groups all my life. Castle Valley Choral while in Price and the Southwest Symphonic Choral here in St George. I have worked in the Boy Scout program most of my church life and enjoy working with the Youth. We enjoy traveling and have always attended our church meetings no matter where we are. Spent some time in Hawaii working on new buildings for BYU Hawaii and while there enjoyed the local ward. Have held numerous positions in the various wards where we lived.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

The family is the most important structure in the Church and in the World. They bring the greatest happiness we can achieve in this life and give us an insight in what Eternal Life will be like. Show more Show less

What are Mormon temples used for?

Frank Douglas Mathis
Temple attendance has always been important to us. There was a time when we, my wife and I, had a goal to attend all the temples in the Church. We had a start by attending the Temples in Utah, Arizona, England, Switzerland, New Zealand, and Australia but now there are so many in different lands that its impossible to get to them all. The Temple teaches in a very personal way the eternal truths of the Gospel and and helps us maintain our spiritual compass in this life. Show more Show less
