Hi I'm Aly

I'm a college chemistry teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 26-year-old woman with a master's degree in organic chemistry. I'm convinced that if you add enough butter, almost anything can be delicious. I have a sulcata tortoise and two leopard geckos that I adore. I love spending time in nature, especially skiing in the mountains of Utah or walking on the beaches and in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. I love to watch romantic BBC period dramas as well as super action-y anime. Most of all though, I love to spend time with family and friends!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of His church, but the process of conversion has been (and continues to be) a lifelong process for me. At times when I have felt abandoned, destitute, and alone, I have been surrounded by the sweetness and peace of something wholly outside of me. Though I have many unanswered questions, doubts, and struggles, I choose faith. I choose to believe that there is an all-loving Heavenly Father who knows me and loves me perfectly. I testify that He knows you and loves you perfectly too. I strive to follow His gospel because I cannot deny the transformation and light that I have witnessed in myself and in others when we follow Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to unreservedly love others. We're all children of our Heavenly Father. He loves us more than we can possibly comprehend, and I believe that our greatest calling is to love Him and to love each other as He loves us. I've stumbled and fallen and made so many mistakes; I am a beggar at His feet, so I cannot judge or look harshly on others. It's certainly a work in progress, but through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can be healed if we choose Him.
