Hi I'm Joseph Cosby

I was born and raised in Flower Mound, Texas. I am called as a full-time missionary to Asuncion, Paraguay. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old, and will soon be serving a mission in Asuncion, Paraguay. I have six siblings: 5 brothers, and one sister. I am the youngest. All of my siblings are active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and are all been married. I have 12 nieces and nephews who I love and treasure almost as if they were my own children. My mother is from Arizona, and my dad grew up in Southern California. I am tremendously blessed to be part of such a family. I have lots of hobbies and interests, and love trying new things! I am a musician-- I play piano, violin, guitar, and I love to sing. I also enjoy playing all kinds of sports, but I mainly enjoy playing soccer (or futsal). I immensely enjoy doing active, outdoor activities, but I equally enjoy doing things like watching movies and playing games with my friends and family. I am pursuing a degree in business with a focus in supply chain management from Brigham Young University. I have put my education on hold, however, to serve a two-year mission in Paraguay.

Why I am a Mormon

I don't have one specific moment in my life where I became converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I became converted and accepted Jesus as my Savior little by little, and day by day. As I have continually done my best to keep the commandments of God, read the scriptures, and pray daily, I have come to know that Jesus is the Savior of the World, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is his church upon the earth. There have been times in my life where I have felt pain and sorrow. By relying on Christ's ample arm, I have made it through tough times in my life. I make mistakes every day, and break the commandments of God more often than I care to admit. But I know that Jesus suffered for me that I may become clean. I know that when I make a mistake, through Christ's atonement I can be made clean again, by repenting and forsaking my sins. I know that God loves his children. I know that because He loves his children, he has sent prophets to the earth to preach the gospel to them. I know that we have a prophet on the earth today, who is also the president of the Lord's church, and his name is Thomas S. Monson. I know that our modern-day church was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith also translated the Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus Christ. I testify that these words, given by Joseph Smith concerning the Book of Mormon, are true: "the Book of Mormon [is] the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man [will] get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." I know that this is true, because I have personally grown closer to God as I have read the Book of Mormon and abided by its precepts. I also know that the Bible is the word of God, and that it contains doctrines and teachings that are essential to the gospel. Lastly, I know that we can know the truth of all things by inquiring of God in fervent prayer.

How I live my faith

I have been called as a full-time missionary in Asuncion, Paraguay. I will be putting all worldy pursuits on hold, such as dating, pursuing an education/ career, and participating in recreational activities with my friends in order to preach the gospel to the people of Paraguay. I will be a representative of Jesus Christ, and will do my best to follow his example of teaching and serving. I know that God loves his children, and that the gospel of Jesus Christ blesses all with peace and happiness. I know that God has a plan for me, and I know that there are people in Paraguay who are seeking happiness, but know not where to find it. I am honored and excited to illuminate their lives with the light of Christ.
