Hi I'm Allison Stammerjohn

I am from California, born and raised. I love dancing, journaling, laughing, and being a missionary! And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I danced all growing up at a studio in my hometown. I absolutely love it and it will always be apart of me. At a young age my mom encouraged my sister and I to keep a journal throughout our lives, and needless to say I am hooked! It is so important to have all of life's precious moments written down so that we can always remember them. I am the oldest of 6 kids and couldn't have been blessed with a better family. I was baptized on June 9, 2013 and I can honestly say it was the best day of my life. I am currently serving in the Washington DC South Mission and am loving every moment of it. I never knew how much joy could come from sharing the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

When I hit my own personal rock bottom, I found myself searching for something but I didn't know what. A friend of mine got me going to the church and before long I realized that what I was searching for was happiness - eternal happiness - which is only found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I started to pray and ask my friend questions about the LDS faith and eventually found myself taking the missionary discussions. I had so many prayers answered all along the way leading up to my baptism. All in which confirming to me that this is Christ's church on the earth today. And since that day, when I entered the waters of baptism, I haven't been the same. I am so much happier and see life in a whole new perspective. I have found and received that eternal happiness, which is one of the reasons why I have decided to serve a mission. I want everyone to feel the way I do, because nothing can get better than this.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by striving always to be "an example of the believers" (1Tim4:12). Reading the scriptures daily helps me tremendously. I learn so much from them and can truly see the difference in my day when I make time to read them. I also seek to find opportunities in my everyday life to serve those around me. "When we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God." (Mosiah4:17).

What is being a Mormon like?

Allison Stammerjohn
It's awesome! I can't imagine my life not as a Mormon now that I am one. It's not the title "Mormon" that makes life so great but rather the gospel of Jesus Christ that is taught in our homes, churches, and by the missionaries. I can not express enough how much happiness this gospel brings and the blessings that come when we live it. I have a whole new perspective on the purpose of life, that alone changes the everyday choices I make. At times it can be a little stressful with fulfilling callings, going to all the activities, living the gospel standards, and so on, but Elder Uchtdorf states it perfectly when he says, "Brothers and sisters, living the gospel doesn’t need to be complicated. It is really straightforward. It could be described like this: •Hearing the word of God with earnest intent leads us to believe in God and to trust His promises. •The more we trust God, the more our hearts are filled with love for Him and for each other. •Because of our love for God, we desire to follow Him and bring our actions in alignment with His word. •Because we love God, we want to serve Him; we want to bless the lives of others and help the poor and the needy. •The more we walk in this path of discipleship, the more we desire to learn the word of God." (It Works Wonderfully) I love the changes that have been made in my life since I became member. I am a better, happier, optimistic daughter of God who is honored to be a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Allison Stammerjohn
Because Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be happy and live with Him again, He gives us the resources needed to learn about Him and His Son, Jesus Christ. One of those resources is the Book of Mormon. Similar to how the Bible is written by prophets of God, The Book of Mormon is written by prophets as well. It takes place in the Americas from about 600B.C to 420A.D. and is a record of the people and how when they followed the commandments of God, they were blessed, and when they didn't they had to deal with the consequences. Throughout the Book of Mormon, Christ is testified of and by reading it, one can get closer to God by acting on the principles and doctrines taught. One of the crowning moments in the Book of Mormon is when Christ shows Himself to the people in the Americas after His resurrection and appearance to the people in Jerusalem (3 Nephi 11). He ministers to the people there and taught them the same gospel as He did in Jerusalem and called 12 apostles. Having this second witness of Jesus Christ as a resurrected being, strengthens my testimony that Christ truly does live and loves all His people. The only way we can come to know if the Book of Mormon is the word of God, is by praying and asking Heavenly Father ourselves if the book is true. When we do this out of true sincerity to know, He will answer us through the Holy Ghost by thoughts that come to the mind and feeling that come to the heart. Show more Show less
