Hi I'm Shaylyn

I was born and raised in Idaho. I go to BYU-Idaho. I hope to own my own hair salon someday. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently going to BYU-Idaho to earn a degree in Business Management. I love doing hair and will be going to cosmetology school to earn my license. Together, I will use these two things to work on opening a salon of my own. I love being creative and using my imagination whether it be by styling hair, drawing, painting, or writing songs (poetry). I work in retail and love the feeling of helping people feel confident about themselves and express themselves. I play the piano and use this to try to teach myself how to play the guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in this church. However, I am not forced to do anything. I have the choice to stay and do the things I do. I love this gospel because it brings me SO much happiness. It brings me comfort when I am having a hard time or feeling down. It is the reason I am alive. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father (as do you) that has a plan specific for me (and you) and it is better than anything I (you) could dream of. He knows what I need and when I need it. There is no such thing as coincidence. We are all placed in places at certain times for certain reasons. I know that we can talk to Him through prayer and that He answers. Maybe not in a way we want or recognize, but He does. I know we have latter-day prophets that give us guidance and that they are called of God. I know Joseph smith was a true prophet who restored Christ's gospel to the earth and that Thomas S. Monson is our prophet today. I know that I am not perfect. For this reason I am so very grateful for Christ and His atonement. He died so I could repent and work towards becoming a better person. This gospel is amazing and I honestly could not imagine where I would be without it. I would be lost and in the dark. And I am forever indebted to my Heavenly Father for blessing me like he has.

How I live my faith

I have held many leadership positions in the church and I look at every one of them as a growing opportunity. I go to all of my meetings because I believe I will learn something every time. I believe we are put in certain positions not only to grow, but also to help others. We may not even learn who we are supposed to be helping but we are here on this earth to help each other out.
