Hi I'm Clara Elnicky

I was born and raised in the Salt Lake Valley. I'm a nerd. I love being goofy. I'm a missionary! And I'm a Mormon!:)

About Me

I love movies, music, singing, dancing, sports, laughing, and just having a good time. I specifically love sci fi (Doctor Who, Star Trek, Firefly, Star Wars, etc. Anything and EVERYTHING), Disney, Pixar, 80's music, and being with my family. I am a huge football fan and have been known to get crazy and dramatic while watching games. I love being active and playing all kinds of sports, and I'm pretty dang good at throwing a spiral football. I love talking to myself and singing anywhere and everywhere! (I'm not crazy I promise) I play the violin and occasionally attempt to play the piano. I am not musically inclined and I am pretty awful at everything I try. Including singing. Watch out:) I am currently going to college at BYU. I love my family to death and enjoy spending ridiculous amounts of time with them. Most of all, I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of Christ's Church means everything to me. It brings an indescribable joy to my life that I never want to live without. My dad is not a member of this church (you might call him an atheist) and when I was little we would never really go to church because my dad would take the day off to go fishing, hunting, or to a movie with his kids. He's not a huge fan of the church and always made fun of us for praying at dinner or not drinking alcohol. My parent's were really hard workers and tried to earn a good living for our family. While they worked everyday, I was raised at my grandparent's house. They were the loveliest people in the whole world and my best friends. Because they were such incredible examples, I would occasionally attend church with them and was baptized when I was eight years old. After being baptized, I attended church either alone or with my older brother. My faith was tried and I gained a strong testimony of this glorious gospel when my brother was on his mission and my parents were separated and divorced. There were a lot of lonely months and hard times, but I was never completely alone. I had my loving Savior and Redeemer, and my challenges and trials helped me grow closer to Him than ever before. I can now say that I know with a surety that this gospel is true. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the most wonderful news that has hit the face of this Earth. God lives. He loves me and you with a perfect love. His love is unconditional in every sense of the word and He knows us personally. Out of pure love Christ completed the Infinite Atonement, providing a way for each of us to be cleansed through repentance, become strengthened so we may endure to the end, and one day return to live with God again in great glory. I know that this doctrine is true through the witness of the Holy Spirit. Through the Plan of Salvation and the mercy of God we are able to live eternally with our families in Heaven, filled with never ending happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through teaching in the women's meeting (Relief Society) at Church. I love my calling and look forward to studying intently in preparation for the lesson each month. I also live my faith through accepting a call to serve in the El Salvador San Salvador East Mission for 18 months. The miraculous opportunity of serving the beautiful people of El Salvador will, without a doubt, be my favorite calling to ever receive. Leaving in just a few short months, I am so excited to share the Gospel with my wonderful brothers and sisters and bring them closer to Christ.
