Hi I'm David Shipley

Born and raised Texan, and I'm 23. Uncle of 7. I find humor in the smallest of things. I love baseball and everything outdoors!

About Me

I am From Southern Texas. I have a love for good music, as do most people, but I am obsessed with Electronic music. I go to every show and festival I can. I listen to alot of djs, from Kaskade, Morgan Page, and Marc Kinchen, To Headhunterz and Blasterjaxx. I am currently serving a full-time mission in the Canada Edmonton Mission, trying to share the joy that i have gained through living the gospel with the children of our Heavenly Father here. I have plans to continue school and pursue a career as an engineer. I have a love for fashion and expressing my personality. I am an outgoing person who loves the Lord with all my being!

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to have been born into the church (my parents were active members when I was born). I grew up learning all the stories and teaching found in the Bible and Book of Mormon. Around the age of 16 I began to have a lot of doubts and eventually went inactive. One after another, trials seemed to bring my life crumbling down before me. I was a point of real confusion in my life. I didn't know where I was going or what my purpose was. I turned to what I had been taught and questioned if I truly believed if those things were true, for myself. After a few years of not having any relationship with my Savior and God, I was fortunate to find my way back. Through the support of my Bishop and Family, I learned the importance of prayer. Everything starts with prayer. I then began to learn who my Savior is and the role he plays in each of our lives individually. It was only then, that I realized i needed him more than ever. I came to understand that throughout all time, He has provided a way to be free of ANY doubt, pain guilt and suffering that we go through each and every day. I learned the true reason of why we are even here on this earth and ultimately, His plan for us when we leave this earth. I came to know that each person who has, and will walk this earth is a choice child of God. I came to know that through Christ, I can become the best person I could ever be, and alone, this would not be possible. Not to say I don't have any hard times, but I now have my brother, Jesus Christ, who strengthens me through all things and has provided a way to return to my Father above. He is there for all of us, we just need to come unto Him. I know, to the depths of my soul, that I love my Savior as my best friend. He has helped me through so many things in my life and I have a deep testimony of His Atoning sacrifice for us. I love being happy, who doesn't? This Gospel brings me more happiness more than anything on this earth because of the absolute truthfulness of it!

How I live my faith

I had a calling in the church to be an adviser to the 16-18 yr old young men and enjoyed every minute of it. I was in charge of their weekly young mens activities in which I help them not only learn worldly skills but also to help them to gain a better understanding of why we are here on this earth. Each day, I spend a lot of time on my knees- I pray to my Father in Heaven often and have a strong relationship with Him. Reading from The Bible and Book of Mormon is a way that I gain more knowledge of my Savior and His life. I attend church weekly and find great strength from feeling of the love that my God gives as a try my best to learn all I can about his plan for me. The most significant way I Live my faith is striving to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. I have taken upon myself The name of Christ- to stand as a witness of Him in all thing and at all times. I live to follow the teachings and example of our Savior.
