Hi I'm Emily H.

I am a Canadian and an Oregonian. I am a BYU student. I am a missionary. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the beautiful and green state of Oregon. I love to swim, bike, hike and enjoy the beauty around us. I have competed in cross country, swim, track and field, and triathlons. I am a BYU student, and have come to love Utah and its beauty as well. I like to dance and have fallen in love with country western dancing. It's so fun! Try it... I dare you :) I am now serving the Lord as a missionary in Mongolia!

Why I am a Mormon

While I have been raised in this Church, I still had to search out the truth for myself. I chose to find out whether the things I have been taught all my life were true, and I now know of a surety that they are true. I have found through personal study of the scriptures and personal prayer that: -I know that we have a Heavenly Father who loves and knows us personally. -I know that He sent His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to this Earth to be our perfect example and to atone for our sins. -I know that because of Christ's sacrifice, we can live with our families for eternity. -I know that the Book of Mormon and Bible are true scripture that go hand in hand in preaching of Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. -I know that Heavenly Father reorganized his church in this day through a young man named Joseph Smith. -I know that Heavenly Father calls prophets in our day just as he did in ancient times to lead and guide our church. -I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church with the fullness of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a faithful missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am putting my life on hold for 18 months including my schooling, my job, my family, and my friends, to teach and serve our Lord's children. I am so grateful for this opportunity and love serving the Lord and the people in the beautiful country of Mongolia.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Emily H.
The family is central to our beliefs. We believe that our whole purpose in coming to Earth is to receive bodies, to be tried and tempted, and to work to live with our Heavenly Father again. Once more, our Heavenly...wait-for-it...FATHER. We leave our pre-earthly existence and our Heavenly Father to come to earth and be placed in families where we learn and grow. And why are we here striving to do good? So that we can be reunited with our Heavenly Father and live with our families for eternity. Family is important and sacred to Mormons because families are the reason. The reason we come to earth. The reason we try so hard to do good and improve ourselves in this life. The reason we know we have a loving and caring Heavenly Father (he loves us so much that he gave us families and a way to be together forever). Show more Show less
