Hi I'm Evelyn

I am a wife. a mother, and a grandmother. I worked for several years with handicapped children. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Portland Oregon a long time ago. My eight children are grown and are providing me with beautiful grandchildren to love and cherish. I love to travel with my husband and we have made it to nearly every state in the US and to a few Canadian provinces. No other countries yet but we'll get there. I love hiking and sewing and music and working on my family tree.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was six years old my parents, who had not been attending church for a while, decided to come back to church and, of course, I came too. I loved growing up in the church and the various opportunities it gave me to learn and grow. I was baptized when I was eight and went to the temple with my family when I was ten. Even as a young child I felt the church was true and loved my Savior, Jesus Christ, But the time came when I really had to know. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it and the other teachings; I learned how to know when The Holy Ghost was speaking to me and giving me directions. Now I can truly say I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world; that through His atonement we can become clean and return to live with our Heavenly Father. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of the Lord and that through him the gospel was restored to the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon along with the Bible is God's word. I know that there is a prophet on the earth today who leads this church and that this is Christ's church. I am so thankful for this knowledge given to me through the witness of the Holy Ghost

How I live my faith

I love serving others at church. I have had many opportunities over the years. I've worked with the children, the youth and in the women's organization. One of the most wonderful callings I had was to work in the temple. Recently my husband and I were asked to help in the nursery. We loved working with those sweet little ones so fresh from heaven. Now we are teaching the three-year-olds, but only for a short time. We will soon be leaving on a full-time mission to New York. We are very excited.
