Hi I'm Courtney

I am a sophomore in college, a Texan, in love with life, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a student at BYU, but holding my enrollment to serve a mission in Baltimore, Maryland for a year and a half! I have a younger sister, two younger brothers, and a dog (who definitely counts as a sibling ;)). Some of my favorite things are meeting new people, learning new things, laughing, dancing, painting, summer nights, and beautiful sunsets.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the peace, joy, and light the gospel brings me! There have been times in my life where I have felt holes of darkness and loneliness, and the only things that have been able to completely fill those holes were Christ and His wonderful gospel. I love this church, and I love that it is centered on Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith as a missionary by serving others, sharing my beliefs, and inviting others to come unto Christ.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Courtney
Nope, we worship God and His son, Jesus Christ. We do, however, reverence Joseph Smith and recognize his role as a prophet and instrument in God's hands. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Courtney
Wards/stakes/branches are geographical boundaries for congregations of people. Since there are so many members of the Mormon church around the world, we break up into these smaller congregations so everyone can attend church near their homes (one of the coolest things about this church is that it is the same around the world- I can go to church in Texas or Tahiti and hear the same lessons). Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Courtney
Of course not! We believe in living Christ-like lives, which includes loving and helping all people. In fact, the Mormon church donates large amounts of money each year to humanitarian services around the world, to all people, of all faiths. Show more Show less
